Two Lost Teeth

Maysen and I went rock climbing today.  It was so hard, but fun and beautiful!  Maysen went higher than me.  I couldn't believe how hard it was to stand up when I was crouched like a spider.  My arms felt like jello the rest of the day.  I know I was doing it wrong, because they said not to pull yourself up with your arms - I just couldn't help myself!

Jorja and Preston both lost teeth today.  How exciting!  They do like to do things together.

Granite Flats

Holy cow today was CRAZY!  This morning I had a 7:30 appointment with Stockton's counselor and the person that oversees the math for the entire district.  They were helping me figure out what to do with Stockton next year.  We looked at six different high schools and their math schedules.  We ended up deciding on Alta.  That is the high school that he is going to attend next year.  This is not without huge obstacles.  For one thing, the class we are putting him in is only offered 3rd period.  That means I need to pick up Stockton from middle school and drive him to high school, then bring him back.  I only need to do this every other day since the high school is on an AB schedule.  The biggest problem is the high school has late start on Tuesdays while the middle school has late start on Friday.  Just to annoy me.  So, Stockton will always be late to his 5th period class; on Tuesdays he will be really late.  Well, Friday he won't be late but he will miss his 3rd period class completely.  Confusing?  Yes.  Worth it?  I hope so.  I feel really good about it, so that is what we are going to have to do.  We did need to pull him out of French because it was only offered while he will be at Alta. Oh well.

After that LONG meeting was finished, I came home and started frantically packing.  Maysen and I left for Girls' Camp this afternoon. The deacons went up early and set up the tents.  (The scoutmaster was looking for service hours.)  We didn't send Stockton because he needed to watch the kids while Mike had a few meetings and I would be gone. Anyway, our camp was held at Granite Flats.  Our first activity was canoeing.  The girls loved it!  Well, my beehives loved it.  Maysen said she didn't like how the lake was so small so she felt like she was going around on a treadmill.

We went straight to our campsite after canoeing.  Maysen is in a tent with Athena, Katie and Analise.  I am in a tent with Kanani and Darlene.  Our theme for camp is iBelieve.  We got some great sweatshirts with that saying on it.  Our i is gold.  Our ward was assigned the virtue value.  The other wards' 'i's were the other value colors with the stake having white.  It was great.  Especially since it was so cold at night.  I was so glad for the extra sweatshirt!

While I was gone, Mike took Stockton, Jorja and Preston to their swimming awards banquet.  Instead of trophies they each got shammies.  Stockton's diving coach wasn't there, so they didn't really do anything for the divers.  That was too bad.  It is tradition for the team to pick one girl and one boy to give the 'Most Dedicated Swimmer' award to.  This year they picked Jorja.  Out of everybody.  Wow. 

Preston's Talk

Preston was asked to give a talk today in primary.  The topic was prayer. He wrote the talk himself, with me transcribing it for him.  He did great, even though he spoke a little too close to the microphone.  Mike showed Preston some pictures he took.  Preston said, "I was hoping you would record it!"  Luckily, his mom had that covered!  Anyway, here is the transcription of his talk.

I have a favorite stuffed dog named Shiver.  I got him for Christmas when I was two.  I like to play with him all day and sleep with him at night.  One day I lost him.  I felt very bad.  Then I said a prayer to Heavenly Father.  I asked Him to help me feel better and to help me find Shiver.  Then I found him in a bush.  I felt good and I knew Heavenly Father answered my prayer.  In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I don't remember the episode Preston was talking about, he has lost Shiver SO MANY TIMES!  Only because he carries him around constantly.

Tonight my family came over for dinner.  My dad made Hawaiian Haystacks.  They were so good!  Mike and I played Matt in a game of Dominion.  I thought I was ahead, so I ended the game.  I wasn't! I was tied with Matt.  The rules say we should "rejoice in our shared victory". Matt thinks that is ridiculous.  He has made up his own tie breaker rules.  Similar to college football.  We each have a turn and see who is ahead.  I had a horrible hand, so Matt ended up winning.  He was so proud.

Mike and Stockton spent most of the day working in Stockton's room. They added an extra light and put more wood up on the ceiling.  They now have the wood past the light fixture.  I need to remember to take a picture of that!  It is looking so good!  Stockton took pictures while he was working with his dad.

We had Family Home Evening tonight.  Jorja had the lesson.  She wanted to teach about balloon animals.  Well, she asked for two volunteers.  Preston and Mike.  She had them follow her instructions. One was hard and one was easy.  She wanted to show how doing harder work would give you a better reward.  The only problem was, any form of balloon animals are hard.  We just don't get it.  It still was cute though.

7 Peaks

I took the kids to 7 peaks this morning, actually Maysen did because she drove us there!  It was crowded!  I spent the first hour looking for Stockton, Jorja and Preston.  I told them they could go on ahead while I put sunscreen on.  I just couldn't find them after that.  Maysen and I spent awhile at the bottom of a slide we thought they went on, then we gave up.  I finally let Maysen go down slides by herself.  I was starting to get really nervous.  Then I saw Stockton and Jorja come running to me.  They lost Preston!  Yikes!  Luckily they had just lost him.  I was sick to my stomach.  It only lasted five minutes though because Stockton found him.  Thank goodness!  The rest of the day was uneventful.  I was grateful for uneventful.

Now for my last day of pictures from Bear Lake.  These were actually from the first day, but I just found them.  Mike let Jorja and Preston go into the lake with their clothes on.  They thought that was so cool!  I was nervous when they were far away.

Jorja loves making balloon animals.  Today she was determined to make Yoshi.  She found a video where someone was explaining, but she didn't have all of the right balloons.  Pretty soon she just made her own creation.  I think it turned out quite awesome.
