Jorja had her N.O.V.A. graduation today. There is a night and day difference between Jorja and Stockton when it comes to the N.O.V.A. program. This is the program where the kids had to sign a contract before beginning. As part of the contract it says that they agree to do their best work. Stockton didn't want to sign it. He talked to his teacher about it and was able to convince her to let him read in the back of the class instead of doing the program. The teacher called and talked to me about it. Looking back, I think she wanted me to force Stockton to do the program. I figured that Stockton solved this problem on his own. He didn't whine about not wanting to do the program to me. The teacher agreed to let him read in the back, I wasn't going to force Stockton to participate. Especially when he was so proud of getting out of the program!
The N.O.V.A. program is similar to the D.A.R.E. program. It talks about the dangers of drugs and alcohol along with other topics like bullying. Jorja threw herself 100% into this program. She loved it. Not only did she complete the program, but she got a N.O.V.A. Pack award. She got that for going an entire week without any electronics. She was one of twenty-two kids in the entire grade to get that award. Jorja was also one of four kids to receive the Super N.O.V.A. award. One child was picked from each class. They were chosen from the kids that completed all three assignments. Pretty awesome Jorja!

Chelsea came back this afternoon. She started working on the dragon again. I think the dragon's tail is just beautiful!
