Prom

I was going through Mike's phone looking for pictures when I came across this gem.  Stockton had to do a TED talk for English.  The topic was fear.  He has had fun watching his friends TED talks.  He thought it was cool that you couldn't see anyone else's talk until you uploaded your own.  As a result, they are all different.  Stockton told mostly stories, one girl gave mostly quotes, and one guy completely screamed at the camera the entire time.

Maysen and I went up to the University of Utah today for an Honors College thing.  It wasn't exactly what we were expecting, and we left slightly disappointed.  As soon as we got home I started helping Maysen get ready for prom.  I curled her hair.  This is the first time I have ever curled her hair.  I put makeup on her, but kind of messed up. I'm not good at girly stuff.  Maysen was pretty excited to be going with Mike.  Mike makes everything fun.  I knew she would have a great time.

She looks so beautiful!
This was after prom.  I never got a picture of the back of her dress. How fun is that?  It made the dress pretty comfortable, but took forever to put on!
Maysen's instagram posts made my heart happy.  I love this girl!  I love that she loves her dad.  It doesn't get any better than this!
I had to cut off a little of Maysen's head to get her quote in, but she is adorable.
Mike took Maysen to a 'murder-mystery' dinner.  These are pictures of pictures, so there is a bit of a glare, but it looks like they are having a great time.

Here are a few pictures Mike snapped at the actual dance.

I am so glad Maysen got to experience prom.  I'm glad she got to go with her dad.  I'm glad they both had a great time.  I love my family!

Peeps

Maysen has an hour break after seminary and before vet class on Friday.  I picked her up after seminary and took her to the store.  She wanted to find something to answer Mike.  Mike loves peeps, so Maysen made him this basket.  The card she found was perfect.  It said, "Dad, Easter eggs may come by the dozen . . . but dads like you are one in a million."  That is completely accurate.  Maysen wanted to drop the basket off at his work before he got there.  We talked our way through 'security' and headed down to his room.  I wasn't positive where Mike sits, but we saw Jeff and he pointed Mike's desk out to us.  Maysen left the basket on his chair.  Mike was surprised.  I thought he would be 'wife tracking' me since I didn't come home, but luckily this time he didn't.

Jorja had a group of friends come over to watch The Martian.  It was her 'book club' from school.    I think there were four girls and two boys.  Mike rented the movie on Vid Angel so it was an edited version. I'm not sure how much of the it was watched.  There was a lot of laughing down there.  We had pizza for them as well, but not many ate it.  That's okay.  More for us!  My friend Camee texted me later saying, "I got a call from my sister in law asking if I knew a Jorja Smith and if it was a good idea to let Daxton go to her house with a bunch of friends.  I assured her it was safe and that it was a good idea.  She said he had a lot of fun!"  I'm glad Camee gave us the thumbs up!  Max was also here last night while my dad was at dinner club.  We had quite a full house.

Soap

Mike thinks it is hilarious that I talk in my sleep.  I don't do it as much as I used to, but Mike loves to laugh at me when I do.  I don't remember any of the following conversation, so Mike might be making it up for all I know.  According to Mike it went like this:
Mike:  I love you
Steph: I love you too
Mike:  I hope I don't annoy you
Steph: You don't, except for that one time with the soap
Mike:  What?  What about the soap
I then sit up and say: I don't know what I'm saying, I'm really tired

I guess something about soap and Mike bothered me.  I'll have to try and figure that out.  Anyways, while the kids were at school I went to Shannon's.  Shannon and Erica let me borrow some of Erica's dresses to see if any would work for prom.  Maysen is going to wear the blue one.
Maysen
This necklace Mike gave me for our tenth anniversary works perfect!
While Maysen and I were trying on dresses, Mike was busy asking Maysen to prom.  He cut up these words and hid them in some ice cream.
Mike left this on the doorstep, rang the bell and then ran around and came in our bedroom.

I wanted Jorja to try on the dresses while we had them there.  Jorja wasn't too happy that she had just washed her face and said that now her face was shiny.  Silly Porge.

Nice Test

I received this text from Stockton this morning.  I was quite excited for him.  Stockton ended up getting 103% on this test.  He got 103% on his last text and 101% on the test before.  3rd quarter ends in 2 1/2 weeks. I think Stockton's going to be able to get another A.  We were really worried at the start of the quarter.  Stockton sure works hard.  Stockton said he missed one question that was worth two points, and it was a dumb mistake.  So dumb that the teacher told everyone about it.  Then he said, "But that was the only problem he missed, so he did better than all of you."  Ha!
Mike sent me this video.  I think he has had a fun week as well.  Looks like a lot of work was accomplished. :)
Maysen and I met Shannon at the mall.  I wanted to pick out a shirt to get Maysen's senior pictures taken in.  Maysen tried to be a good sport, but she hates shopping.  She didn't like anything Shannon picked out. Shannon has funky taste.  I was hoping Maysen would try on something and fall in love with it.  She didn't.  We ended up buying the first shirt she tried on.

Mike got back tonight.  It is really nice to have him home.  I'm glad he was able to have such a successful trip.

Confident

Mike just found out that Openstack chose two of his talks for their next summit.  He's pretty excited about that.  Stockton had a calculus test today.  He thinks he did okay.  Maysen shocked me after school when she told me she wanted to go to prom.  She said that she had never been to a school dance and couldn't visualize it, she wants to go so she could be able to write scenes for various stories.  She cracks me up!  I asked her who she wanted to go with.  She said she is planning on just going by herself.  Not with a date.  Not with any friends.  Completely by herself.  I don't like that idea, but I love the fact that Maysen is 100% confident.  I love that she doesn't count on other people to make her happy.  I love that nothing intimidates her.  I called Mike and talked to him about it.  He is going to see if Maysen would let him take her.  I think she would love that.

Working from the Cabin

Mike left this morning to spend a few days working from the cabin with a few of his co-workers.  Mike had an entire agenda typed up.  He had fun planning this.  From the pictures he sent, it looks like working from the cabin is a lot of fun.  I love the picture below.  It looks like they are up at the springs.  One of my favorite spots on earth!

Mike was a little worried because the pictures Bubs sent didn't show a whole lot of snow.  I think they've managed just fine.

Stockton helped me with scouts today.  Judy couldn't come.  We worked on knots.  At least I have the wolves, so the knots they need to learn are the easy ones!  I stayed up late watching BYU lose to Gonzaga. Collingsworth has been a lot of fun to watch this season.

Risk for Hours

Matt came over today.  We played two games of Risk.  At least over five hours worth.  I didn't win either game, so that is no good.  Mike won his first game and was very happy with that.  Preston won the second game.  I might have egged him on a little.  It was already an hour past bedtime and I need to get up at 4:15!

State Diving

Stockton had his state diving tournament today.  All the kids came to watch him.  He did really well.  He was very happy.  Last year at state he struggled with his back 1 1/2.  This year he nailed it.  The best I have ever seen him do it.  Stockton placed 3rd.  That is what he expected. Chris is usually 80 points ahead of him and Mickey is usually 40 points ahead.  Chris and Mickey are both crazy good.  Not quite as good as Kimball was last year, but still amazing.

We went to Pizza Pie Cafe.  Kind of like Stevie B's, but not as good.  I ate a lot.  Stockton said, "I didn't know anyone could eat so much."  Ha! It was delicious.  It's fast Sunday this weekend, so I filled up!  We watched a quick episode of The Goldbergs before I took Jorja and Preston to Airborne for Max's birthday.  Jorja played with Preston until he felt comfortable.  Then she hung out with me until it was time to go. We ended up leaving Preston with my dad.

Mike and I went to see A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder tonight.  I was excited to see this because I know this is Jordyn's favorite play.  Let's just say I'm not a night person.  The play started at 8:00 and I kept falling asleep.  I was pretty annoyed with myself.  Why don't they ever have broadway shows in the early morning?  That would be perfect!  It was fun to get out with Mike.  The kids were even all asleep when we got back.  What an easy life we have!

Dr. Who's Back

Jorja had late start today.  She surprised Preston with pancakes.  This is the one she made for him.  He loved it!
I talked to Cassie for awhile last night while I was at diving.  I usually sit in the very back of the stadium seating and work on my sewing.  I sit there because I can lean against the wall so my back doesn't hurt. Anyway, I will have John & Cassie's name for Christmas next year.  I wanted to make them a stocking.  I'm getting close to finishing Jeff's stocking, so I wanted Cassie to pick one out for them . . . and their new baby!  Hope I can finish all of them!  Exciting though.  Cassie called me today.  She had a couple of choices, which is perfect.  That way if I can't find the one they chose, I'm not stuck.  Should be fun and it will keep me busy for quite awhile.

I was so disappointed when Dr. Who went off Nexflix in January.  Good thing it came back to Amazon in March!  We watched the next episode tonight.  We are still on the second season.  I didn't really like Dr. Who until he got a new companion.  Then I liked it a lot.  The rest of my family tease me because they say the show is so weird and they are still waiting for it to get good.  Mike can't understand why I like it because it is completely different than any show I usually like.  They'll become Dr. Who fans one day, just you wait.  Well, maybe not Stockton.  He doesn't really like stories.  He's not a movie or a book fan.  We also watched The Goldbergs and The Amazing Race.  It was a fun movie night.  Nice and Relaxing.

Cookie Dough

I have fallen off the wagon with my 'no sugar' challenge.  I was hoping to do it while I was doing my super hard 8 week exercise class.  I managed for awhile, but it is really hard when I am the only one in the house doing the challenge.  It is also really hard when Jorja makes a double batch of cookie dough.  She didn't want cookies, just the dough.  She put it in the fridge and had the date she made it written on saran wrap.  Cute that she thought it would last long enough that she needed a date written on it.  Jorja was not happy when she saw I noticed the cookie dough.

I took Maysen to her vet class today.  I have to leave before Jorja leaves for school and Jorja is gone by the time I get home.  When I got home, I noticed the bowl of cookie dough was not in the fridge.  I knew Jorja was hiding it from me, which made me laugh.  I went to the fridge downstairs, and of course it was there.  I sent Jorja this text with the caption, "Nice try!"  Jorja was not amused, but I thought I was hilarious.
