Shoe Clerk

These were some questions that were handed out for the yearbook. Jorja never even turned hers in last year. This time she answered the awkward door step question. "He asked for a goodnight kiss, I gave him a goodnight fist bump." Hahaha. True story. I love her.
Jorja asked if she could go with Ben to Chick-Fil-A after school. She wanted to order a chicken mini platter for breakfast tomorrow. Ben was ordering one too. They get 25% off because they work there, so that's nice. I told Jorja it would be okay to go as long as she would go shopping with me after. She took forever getting home and I was annoyed with her. I was worried she would rush off to the game and I would be stuck getting last minute homecoming stuff. I absolutely hate shopping.

We had to pick up a few things at Target and were also hoping by some miracle they would have red heals. They had perfect ones, except they weren't in Jorja's size. We had them call other stores, but no one had her size. Sad. While we were at Target Jorja got a phone call that made her sad. I won't go into details, she just felt bad after it. She wanted to just leave and check JCPenneys for heals. We are in the store for two seconds and I've lost Jorja. I turn around and she is talking to the shoe salesperson. Who just happens to be Conner. She had no idea this is where he worked. She was sooooo happy. Her mood instantly changed. We talked with him for a long time. Made Jorja's day. Made her week actually. Preston's friend Jack called while we were there. I walked away to answer the phone. Jorja and Conner finished talking while I was away. I was a bit disappointed because I wanted to get a picture of them. Jorja showed me the selfie she took.
Conner & Jorja
We stopped and were looking up places for other shoes before we left the store. We ended up walking right by Conner again. I told them I needed another picture because the selfie just wasn't going to cut it.
Jorja had tears in her eyes when we walked away. It made me nervous for what had happened when I was talking to Jack. I asked her if she was okay. She said she just forgot how much she missed him, but there was no way she was going to let him see her cry because he teases her for crying at everything. That made me laugh. She doesn't cry that much. Mostly when she leaves her friends without knowing when she will see them again. We found some shoes in the mall that will be perfect. Jorja made me leave by another exit so we wouldn't walk by Conner again.
Jorja was tempted to miss the Homecoming game. She was tired. She ended up texting her friend Luke. He went to Alta for two years and now goes to Corner Canyon. She asked him if he wanted to go see the halftime show and not stay too long. He texted back that he was on his way to the Corner game. He called her two minutes later and said he was turning around to go with her. They met at the game and then left for dinner somewhere. She had fun hanging out with him, but told me seeing Conner was her favorite part of her day. Hahaha

Pseudopapilledema

I checked Jorja out of school again today. She had a doctor appointment at the Eye Institute of Utah. She had to get an OCT test. I have never heard of that before. She had to stare at the back of some machine while wearing an eye patch and click a button every time she saw a light. I guess this was taking pictures of the back of her eye or something like that. Hopefully everything is okay. I asked the lady if she knew why Jorja needed this test. I couldn't remember what the doctor had told me. She said that on Jorja's file it says she was diagnosed with pseudopapilledema. Which I think is okay. They want to make sure she doesn't have plain old regular papilledema. That would be bad. That is my understanding at least.

After the appointment, Jorja and I stopped by the mall and grabbed some more concealer and something for Jorja to eat. I dropped her off at a nail place with Cori. She picked light blue nails. I went down to Orem to pick up Jorja's dress from the rental shop. She looks adorable in it. I love it.
 Jorja
It looks soooo good on her, she just doesn't like the shoes she was planning on wearing. We found some red earrings at the mall, so now she wants red shoes. We'll see if we can find something. Who knows..... It was the pep rally tonight. Jorja was in the parade with student government. I love this picture she sent me.

They were able to light the A, but it burned out really quickly. The regular frame they have used for years to light the A was thrown away accidentally by the construction crew last spring. They got something hastily put together. At least they were able to kind of do something.
Jorja went with student government to In and Out after the pep rally. She came home happy. Mike, Preston and I played Hearts and Preston destroyed us. It wasn't even close. How is he already so good at this game? How is he so good at every game he plays? Anyway, I will end with these progression pictures of student government. I just think it is funny to see them all together. Plus, then I can tell Jorja was jumping in the picture I liked.

Wildlife Wednesday

I cannot believe I forgot to take a picture of when the clock made it into the 200s! I did snap a 500 picture not planning on using it. Oh well. But....499 looks so much better than 730!
Today was Wildlife Wednesday for Homecoming week. Yesterday she went with Chase to pick out a costume. They couldn't buy it because Savers caught on fire while they were there. Chase went back to pick it up while Jorja was at work. They decided to be flamingos. Jorja didn't end up wearing the shirt Chase went back for....she borrowed this one from Madison.
 Chase & Jorja
I spent a lot of the day in the dark. I was exercising downstairs when the power went off. So, I worked out for about twenty minutes in the dark. Haha. The power was out for several hours, which was annoying because I planned on doing laundry today. Oh well. Mike didn't get home until after midnight tonight. I had a Chinese meeting. Most of the information I already knew. I did get to see Mr. Chen though. I haven't seen him in years! He had Jorja in Chinese for three years. 5th, 6th and 7th grade. He works at Butler Middle School now. He asked about Jorja the second he saw me. I told him that she wasn't shy anymore. Hahaha. Preston and I played 5 Straight tonight. He won the first game and I won the second one. He is really good at forcing me to play my low cards on high numbers. Annoying. The only reason I ended up winning the second game was he ended up with four high number cards that he was blocked from playing. Luck ran out on my lucky boy tonight!

Jorja met with Kerity after school and then went to work from 5-11:00. This was her first time being the only shift leader. She trained someone on closing too and was able to get out by 11:00. She was quite proud of herself. Also, Jorja has been doing great in math. Her teacher called her back to talk about her test and she was so nervous! When she got back there the teacher told her how proud she was of her. She only missed one on the entire test. Much, much, much higher than the median and average. Yay Porge! Jorja said that last year she bonded with Chad, but didn't understand him as a teacher. This year she doesn't bond as well with the teacher, but completely understands how she teaches. She is very happy with the way things are this year!

Fieldhouse

Today in Jorja's student government class they were able to check out the new field house. Jorja said it's pretty cool. They are hoping to have homecoming in there, which would be a lot more fun than the gym. Guess we'll see on Saturday!
Jorja was a little annoyed because one of the boys in student government told her that he was going to run for student body president next year for the parking space and wasn't planning on doing any work. Why would anyone say that out loud? Luke Vickory heard and said, "Please don't do that." Sam Strong, the current SBO president, tried to tell the kid that all the senior officers get parking spaces, don't go for president if you aren't planning to work. I wish there was some kind of accountability for the kids that have no desire to work. Like, a minimum they need to do in order to run again. Or, I wish the vote wasn't straight student vote, I wish the advisors had a say. The problem is, the kids that are voting have no idea who is actually working in student government and who isn't doing a thing. Kind of frustrating.
My weekly update sent to Rachel
I've been a little obsessed with this.
I WILL finish by our trip to Israel in November!
I checked Jorja out of school and took her to her dermatologist appointment in Bountiful. We were in and out pretty quick. Next time she needs blood drawn. She's going to love that. Jorja was called into work today, which meant she missed the combined youth activity. They did the Amazing Race. Mike and I happened to walk outside while we saw a group of about twelve kids walking in front of our house. Mike yelled, "Go team green!" Preston was with them, so that was great. Brenton yelled out, "It's not as cool as the race you did for Sweethearts!" Haha. That made me happy. I bet Carson talked to him about it. Preston wasn't too impressed with the race. He said that is was four teams of twelve and the leader just had the stuff on a list instead of having clues handed out. He said most of the stuff were things like minute to win it games, or doing pushups. The coolest one was a person was in a inter tube and pulled across a swimming pool and had to shoot a basketball once they got there. The only bummer was the groups were so big only a few people got to participate. Mike and I tried to explain to Preston that we put an insane amount of work into the race when we do it, just enjoy what they were able to put together. I guess Preston watched us (and helped us) work on Jorja's race that he got his hopes up a bit.

I came down to tuck Jorja into bed and found her with a hanger on her head. I guess no one told her she is sixteen.....

Bye Alia, Hello Iwaniec

I got to talk to Stockton today! He is getting a new companion tomorrow named Elder Iwaniec. I hope they get along as well as he did with Elder Alia and Elder White. Stockton also is the new district leader. Good luck with that! Elder Alia is being transferred to the area where the
Swahili family moved! That's pretty cool.

I was talking on the phone with Stockton when Jorja left to the Homecoming Pageant. She is escorting Abram Berry and looked so beautiful. I asked Madison to take a picture of Jorja for me, but she forgot. She did manage to leave these gems on Jorja's phone. So, I will post these pictures of Madison instead.
Madison
Jorja said she and Abram had an awesome handshake that they did when they got to the stage. This pageant was a lot less stressful because all Jorja had to do was escort. Last year she was on the pageant committee and had to do a lot more. She went to Leatherbys with student government after. She hasn't felt super connected with the other kids in student government this year. Hopefully she will feel more like she belongs by the end of this week. They do spend a lot of time together during homecoming week.

Overtime Again

We had a relaxing day today. Jorja accidentally asked for this day off thinking we were going to the cabin. Nope, that is in October. She spent the day cleaning her room, doing chores, then hanging out with Brynlee.
Brynlee
They were able to see Brynlee's twin Chloee off to homecoming. Jorja loved doing that. They picked up a few more people and then came over here to play Jackbox.

Jack rode his bike down to our house and played with Preston for a few hours. Preston was so happy! They did the magic scavenger hunt and were running around and laughing like crazy. When Jorja's friends came over they played Jackbox with them.

I LOVED the BYU/USC game today. Overtime win for BYU. It was great! I love texting with my brothers during the games. It is so much fun, especially since no one else cares about sports at my house. It's nice I can be connected to my brothers and enjoy the games with them. At least we enjoyed this one, some of them are not as fun.
