Celebrating the Porge

Mike had work off today and it ended up being perfect. While Jorja and Preston were at school we drove up to Logan to see Maysen. Mike was able to check out the car and drive it back home. He took off the entire bumper. It is ugly, but it runs. I drove Maysen home. We ate at the Waffle Iron before heading home. Mike went straight home and followed his gps. It told him to get off on I-80 then 215. I didn't turn on my gps because I knew the way home and got stuck in horrible traffic. Maysen and I stopped at Target. Maysen got Jorja a Utah State bottle and wanted to fill it with something. I told her Jorja had really wanted new pens. I knew the ones she liked before she got at Target, so we stopped there and found them. Maysen got her two packs. We hurried to Scheels to pick up a new wallet thing for Preston to give her. I was sooooo tempted to get her the one with the cactus, but I resisted. We got home just in time to head out to dinner.

Jorja picked Toscano. None of us had ever been there, but it was close. Jorja REALLY wanted Hailey to come with us. She wasn't going to be able to hang out with Hailey on her birthday, so she really wanted her here for this. Hailey was doing her night activity for the dance tonight, so she didn't have much time. This turned out perfect. The food was delicious and they sat us close to the bar with ALL THE TVs! I asked them if they could turn it on Fox. They asked why. That took me back for a second. Ummm. The World Series!!! They said okay, but they thought some people would want to watch the Jazz/Lakers game (that was going to be on in a few hours.) I said, "but....the World Series..." They turned it on right as the game started. It was so fun to have on in the background. Too bad the National lost! Hopefully Mike will get to see a good one!
Jorja opened her presents once she got home.
Preston and Jorja with her new wallet ~ she loved it
Mike, Maysen and Jorja with her new Utah State bottle
Jorja LOVED it and LOVED the pens hahahaha
Jorja's big present from us was a giant jewelry cabinet she got a month ago. I wrapped up a small jewelry box today. I thought it would be great to take to dances. Usually she takes off her jewelry and tries to keep it in a small box. We also put a slip of paper saying we would pay her November car payment. She was happy about that.

Jorja went to the football game tonight. I think she just went by herself and found people to sit by. It was the first playoff game and Alta won. Bronson got everyone to sing Happy Birthday to Jorja. She loved that!
I met Jorja at the store after the game. We bought things for tonight and tomorrow. The girls from Chick-Fil-A are coming tonight to make pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. She is having a little pancake breakfast tomorrow for her birthday. Brynlee is coming to both, so she slept over. Turns out Brynlee is the only one who showed up for the cookies tonight. Hopefully more people show up tomorrow! That's okay though. Jorja was exhausted. She and Brynlee slept in the guest room. Brynlee made Jorja a scrapbook of the two of them. It was really cute. She waited until midnight to give it to her. Hopefully they won't be exhausted tomorrow!

Fail Fest

Maysen sent me this picture because she thought the bat placement was funny. Haha. She was happy until a few hours later when she was sad. She got in a car accident today. Mike and I drove up to Logan for her birthday and tried to get the emission test on her car done. Their test thing was broken and they told us to come back tomorrow. Mike explained to Maysen how to do it. She got the test done today. When she finished she decided to go to IHOP. She drove through the parking lot and crossed this small street. She thought it was a four way stop, but it was only two way. She was completely stopped, looked both ways, but was a little too cautious. When she pulled out she waited long enough that another car came that she didn't notice. She thought it was a four way stop so she didn't think to double check again. No one was hurt, but Maysen was so embarrassed. Accidents are never fun. My poor little girl.

Game 2

Jorja made it through school with her sore mouth. She even managed to score a 100 on her physics test. Too bad her US History grade is a B- right now. There are some things that haven't been put in yet, so hopefully that will go up. Jorja didn't feel well enough to go to Kerity's after school though. She made it through work, although that was tough. She was exhausted and sore at the end of the day. I actually made dinner tonight and felt that needs to be documented. Two of the three people even liked it! (Can't please Preston with food now a days.)

I had the BEST time watching Game 2 of the World Series. Nats DOMINATED! It was so fun! Mike bought tickets to go see Game 4 in DC. He isn't going with anyone. He said he will be watching 'with 41K Nats fans.' Hahaha I hope they win for him!

Liver

Mike took Jorja to her dermatology appointment out in Bountiful today. She had to get her blood tested. She hates needles and felt sick after that. I had a job interview today. It was for the attendance office at Alta. It would be perfect for me, but they had a stack of people they are interviewing. I think the biggest thing working against me besides not having a job in over twenty years, is I'm going on a long trip to Israel next month. Why would they pick me if they need someone now. Anyway, I met Mike and Jorja at his work then I drove Jorja to school. I went to the temple since I was already in a dress. The relief society went today, but I wasn't able to make it to the session. I did see them in the celestial room though. I talked to Suzanne Heaton for a bit. I was a big baby and started crying when I talked about Jorja. Hopefully next week all the tests will come back normal and that will be that. I checked Jorja out of school so she could get medicine and eat and a short nap. She ended up getting her hair cut and then she went with Madison to get her nails done. Madison was on call in for work and ended up getting called in for two hours. She can't work right now because her hair is pink. Jorja took her shift for her because Madison couldn't find anyone else. While Jorja was Jorja's doctor called me with her blood test results. She said her cholesterol was great, but her liver levels were extremely elevated. She has the liver of an alcoholic right now. They asked if she had been sick. I told them she just got her wisdom teeth out and was on medicine for that. Anyway, she has to go get her blood tested next week. Hopefully the levels go down. If not she needs further testing. Just what I wanted to hear today.

It was so gross ~ it tasted like melted jolly ranchers
At least it was infused with dragon magic!
After trying the dragon one we have been too scared to try this one
Despite it being made with star dust.
I had THE BEST time texting my brothers through Game 1 of the World Series. I did not expect the Nationals to win and it was so exciting to watch it happen! Loved it!

Bad News Day

Mike texted us this picture saying he was all ready for the World Series tomorrow
Today was a long day. Jorja felt miserable and she ended up staying home the entire day. I texted her teachers and they were all really nice about it. Just kind of scary since the quarter ends on Friday. Still, wisdom teeth are not fun. Jorja slept until noon. I hung out with her after that and we watched Kim's Convenience. Sam found out that that she has placental abruption, placental prevue AND placental accreta. Not good. She is only 23 weeks along. They are hoping she makes it to 28 weeks. If she happens to make it to 34 weeks that will be amazing! They will deliver the baby then and Sam will have a hysterectomy. One piece of good news is Sam's doctor is one of the top 2 placenta accreta doctors in the nation.

Maysen had a huge paper due today that she finished and turned in. 40 pages in her long form fiction class. She was super proud of it, so yay!!!

I got a call from Jorja's eye doctor today. Last week when we saw him he said everything was fine. Well, not fine, but the same and we didn't need to see him until December. He called back today and said he had been worried about Jorja and decided to send her file to a neuro-opthomoligist at the University of Utah. He said if they were worried about anything they would probably call and schedule an appointment in a month. Anyway, a couple of hours later they called and said they wanted to see Jorja as soon as possible. Their first available appointment was next Tuesday. She has to go in for 3-5 hours of eye tests. They said her nerves were swollen and causing pressure on her brain. I think they said that they were surrounded in spinal fluid, which I don't know what that means or if I even got that right. I told them I was confused because just a week ago the doctor told us that everything was okay. I asked if they were just being extra cautious with these tests and if she really needed them. They told me that this was a big deal. They are worried that if she gets even one more headache things could escalate quickly and she could permanently lose her vision. What - the - heck??? I don't know if that means losing some of her sight or becoming blind. I'm hoping we go to all these tests and the diagnosis comes back as 'the doctors are big fat worry warts' - because that is a real diagnosis.

Jorja had to work today. She was on call in and thought they wouldn't need her. They ended up having her come in from 5-9. She survived but it wasn't fun. I drove her there because she is on medication where she can't drive right now. When I picked her up we stopped at U-Swirl to get Mallory a yogurt. Mallory got her wisdom teeth out today. I waited in the car outside of Mallory's house while Jorja went in to talk with her. They will be wisdom teeth buddies now. Fun.

Sleepy Head

Jorja slept pretty much all day. She did not feel well. Understandable.
Stephanie, Jorja, Mike
Sam called me today. She is in the hospital. The doctors are worried that she has placental abruption. The first hospital told her that they could do nothing for the baby if it was born now and gave her lots of statistics of what a horrible life the baby would have if it did survive. Then they asked Sam if she wanted to be transferred to another hospital where the baby might have a chance but a horrible life. Anyway, Sam has to stay until tomorrow when she will be seen by specialists. Hopefully all is well.

Visitors

Jorja spent all of the day in bed. She had some friends come and visit her, which made her so happy. The place that took out her wisdom teeth sent her flowers. They were so pretty. Too bad later in the day they got knocked over and spilled water all over her friend Cam.

Jack and Ellie stopped by from student government. Jorja LOVED that. They brought her a smoothie from Jamba Juice. They were so nice and talked to her for a long time. Jack got his wisdom teeth out a few months ago. He did it as a part of a study. Half of the participants get pain medication as they are recovering, half of them get a placebo. Jack is positive he received the placebo. The recovery was awful. He said he's glad he did it now, but he wouldn't want to do it again.

Her friend Mallory stopped by super late at night. Around 10:00 I think. She stayed until 1:00 in the morning. Jorja wasn't tired and had slept most of the day. Me, on the other hand..... I have been sleeping with Jorja, so I just crawled into bed and fell asleep while Mallory was here. She had just come back from Lake Powell, which is why she came so late. She is getting her wisdom teeth out on Monday.

BYU played Boise State today and WON! BYU has only won three games this year, and all of them have been against teams in the top 25. They lost two games to teams they should have destroyed. Anyway, I was watching the game by myself and BYU scored on an amazing trick play. I was cheering and Mike was walking down the hall. I said, "Mike! Hurry you got to see this!" He kept walking at his same speed and said, "I'm good." It annoyed me so bad. I couldn't pause the game, so I couldn't show him the play. It made me so sad. I went from cheering to being really sad in a matter of seconds. I hate that I am alone and no one will enjoy this with me. Mike didn't like that he made me feel sad, but he doesn't understand that he makes me feel like he thinks he is better than me because I like sports. I gave up watching sports for years when the kids were little, but it was such a big part of my childhood and it has been fun getting back into it. This is how I bond with my brothers. We have a group text that we use and text during the games. It is my main interaction with my family. I love that, but sometimes I want to enjoy with someone in the same house as me. It did prompt me to ask Jorja if she would marry someone who liked sports just a little bit so I would have someone to talk to. She would not agree to my stipulation. Anyway, I was watching the football game and following the baseball game on my phone. I didn't have the channel of the Astros/Yankees game. If the Astros won (which they did) they were going to the World Series. I had walked into the guest room to check on Jorja. Mike had spent most of the day with her. I looked down at my phone and said that Altuve was up. He's my favorite player on the Astros and I thought it would be amazing if he hit a walk-off. Which he DID!!!! Anyway, Mike said, "Is he the one that throws the football?" Hahahahahaha Oh my gosh! I hate it that no one enjoys sports with me, but sometimes you get gems like this that will make me laugh for days. BYU scored a touchdown and Altuve hit a walkoff homerun as I was leaving the room. Wow! What a fun day for sports!

Jorja's Teeth

Jorja got her wisdom teeth out today. The procedure went great with no complications. Hopefully she'll recover quickly.

Jorja kept sending videos to people on the way home. Here are a few of them. She couldn't drink water, and she somehow convinced herself that her friend Ben died. He was killed by a spider. It was very logical. I couldn't find the clip where she was scared of a triangle. So...
"I shouldn't drink water"
Ben killed by a spider
Hailey went to Ben's funeral
Jorja sent a message to Cam saying that Ben died. He wrote back saying, "I heard. It's so sad." So, that convinced her Ben died for sure, didn't matter what I said.

Hailey and Spencer came over to see Jorja today. They came separately, but ended up being here at the same time. Spencer brought Jorja a lemonade from Swig.

Jorja felt better toward the end of the day and really wanted to go to U-Swirl. She mostly wanted to get out of the house. Jack was over playing with Preston, so we brought him with us. These two get along so well, I love it.

Pumpkin Patch

Jorja wasn't supposed to work today. Originally she was supposed to get her wisdom teeth out today, but a few weeks ago the place called and changed her appointment to Friday. I guess then she gets one day of fall break to play. Madison went to St. George with her friends. She was scheduled to work and couldn't find anyone to take her shift. Jorja ended up working for her. She wasn't too excited about it because she had made plans with two girls to go get their nails done and hang out for a bit. Jorja was excited because this was the first time she would ever have hung out with them. Anyway, she had to cancel. Hopefully they will do something together another time. Jorja asked me if she could go out to breakfast with Ben instead. So, that is what she did before work.
Ben
After work she had a double date with Hailey. Jorja asked a kid from work named Cam and Hailey asked one of her friends named Brad. Jorja loved it. All four of them got along really well. Jorja had the best time. This was really good for her. Anyway, they went to dinner, picked out pumpkins at a pumpkin patch, carved them, watched the first part of Coraline and made cookies. Jorja and Cam were supposed to leave at 10:00 to go to a Haunted House for a work party. Right as they were about to leave they got a text that the Haunted Forest had shut down for the night because of the rain. So, it was cancelled. Glad they got the message before they left.

While Jorja was at work, Aysha and Autumn stopped by and dropped off a cup of cookies. I gave them to Jorja when they were carving pumpkins. Jorja started crying and said, "Ahhh, a cup of cookies? I remember when we delivered cups of cookies to people. That is so nice!"

Out of Business

Jorja was able to drop off her poster, flowers and pumpkin before school. The other kids in her group weren't able to meet her. She did send a text about it super late at night though. Anyway, she dropped it off and felt good about it. In student government, Sam Strong, the student body president said, "I want to give a shout out to Jorja Smith for being the first person in student government to do their act of kindness in four years." Then everyone clapped. Haha
I have been in charge of the missionary plaques for our ward for several years now. It's pretty easy. Once I get the information I send it to Joe's Trophy. They have our ward on file, so it is convenient. Except for the location, it is in Salt Lake. I finally got Ashley Scott's missionary information and sent it to them. I usually hear back the next day, but I didn't hear anything for a week and a half. I called, but their number had been disconnected. Not a good sign. Mike stopped by there on the way home from work and took this picture for me. So.....gotta figure out a new plan now.
Preston was sick today. He didn't eat his breakfast and looked just awful. I told him he needed to go back to sleep. He slept until noon. I made him a cheesemallow sandwich when he woke up. Then we played battleship and mancala. I dropped him off at school for seventh period. He was the host of the book club. He wrote his questions out last night and had treats. It's a big part of his grade, so he didn't want to miss it. He managed to make it through class and went back to sleep once he got home. I got a call today for a job interview. It would be in the attendance office at Alta. Those guys are my best friends! Haha. I know they are interviewing a lot of people, so I doubt I'd get the job, but it would be cool to be at the same school as Jorja. The hours are perfect too. 11:30-3:00. Just enough to get out of the house, but I'd get to be home with the kids. If I do get the job, hopefully no one gets mono.

Jorja and Hailey hung out today until it was time for Jorja to go to work. They had a blast together and spent most of the time recreating old videos they had made. Jorja had to close, so she got off late. She went to Walmart after work with Cam. They have a date tomorrow and Jorja wanted matching socks. Why? I don't know. They couldn't find any though.
