Good-bye Gavin

We watched the last two sessions of conference today. I just love conference. I love watching it with my family. I love that my family loves it. It's such a great weekend. After the first session we played Ghost Detective. Stockton was the ghost. I was able to figure out how he was killed. I was proud of myself.

Stockton went and watched the second session of conference with Gavin. Gavin is doing home mtc. I don't think Stockton will see him again before he leaves. Gavin was originally called to Japan. He has been reassigned to North Dakota, I think. I'm glad they were able to spend some time together.
Gavin & Stockton
We ate when Stockton got home and then he headed back to college. He texted us this picture and said, "My roommate has his scriptures open??" Stockton's roommate has been excited to leave the church. He likes to tell Stockton all the commandment breaking things he does. They still get along okay though. Stockton enjoys him. Anyway, about an hour later Stockton texted, "Never mind he's letting our roommates rip pages out to roll joints." That's just terrible. Especially after the awesome weekend we had listening to conference, Stockton comes back to that. Just kind of a kick to the heart. Stockton spends most of his time over at 'the bungalow' with his friends from his mission. He said he just feels so good when he is there. Probably because the spirit is there. I'm glad he at least as a place he can escape to.

Gavin's Farewell

Today was a day of farewells. Stockton left to Gavin's farewell this morning. Gavin is going to Japan. Unless he gets reassigned. Stockton is super excited about him going on a mission. He will be a great missionary.

Gavin & Stockton

We have been playing a lot of Dominion lately, and I have been on a nice winning streak. This afternoon I lost two games to Stockton and fell sooooo many places until I was exactly one behind him.
Mike and Stockton made steak nachos for dinner and they were delicious.
Rachel gave us these platters when we were in Japan.
Jorja had several mission farewells today. Jake & Benny's were in our ward. Luke's was at 11:00 and Carson's was at 1:00. She came home for dinner and we were able to spend some family time together. I had everyone watch a Jeffrey R. Holland and Mike gave each of the kids a father's blessing. It was a pretty great day.

Preston's New Backpack

Brett and Rachel discovered yesterday that their left turn signal didn't work. Knowing that Rachel was going to be driving back across the country by herself, that was a big concern. Brett, Rachel and I drove to a NAPA auto parts store in Thayne. They were so nice. They ended up being able to order the entire thing Rachel needed. It will get here Friday morning. The store that is connected to it is a mechanic shop. They helped Brett and Rachel figure out what was wrong and said they would install it for them on Friday. Rachel said she had tried to get this fixed three times and every time they told her they couldn't get the parts. The blinker still worked though, it just went very fast. It wasn't until yesterday that it stopped working completely. Luckily we are staying here until Friday, so this will work for them.

My dad and Matt took a bunch of little kids on a 4 wheeler ride. They went to the beach and found the road that is usually covered in water. Brett and I were watching out the window and could see a huge dust storm. It started raining a bit. We could see the 4 wheelers coming back and crossing the big highway. Right as they got back it started pouring. I think most of the kids got inside, but I think it caught my dad and Matt. Talk about good timing! That would have been awful to be caught it. Especially with all the tiny kids!

We had Marie's cake after lunch. It was pretty funny. It is pure cotton candy. It was actually better than I thought it would be. Each layer was a different flavor. A small slice was more than enough. We only went through half of the cake at lunch.

Brett did a great job slicing. It's harder to do than it looks!

The girls loved playing with Preston. He came up from the basement and told me he got his new backpack from school. Hahaha - what an adorable backpack!

While we were having cabin fun, Stockton had the opportunity to go through the temple with Gavin. Gavin has been such a great friend to Stockton through the years. How cool that Stockton was invited and able to be there for this. Gavin invited Dani also. The session was small. It was Gavin, his parents, Stockton, Dani and Isaac. Isaac was randomly there. I remember him being friends with Gavin in high school, so that is funny. Gavin has a mission call to Japan. He got his call one week after Stockton got home from his mission. He doesn't leave for another month. About six months between his call and his departure. That's nuts!

Mike brought Stockton back to the cabin. Maysen didn't feel well enough to come. She was quite disappointed when I talked to her on the phone. She wasn't looking forward to being alone. I told her Jorja was going to be there. She had no idea. That made her so happy. She wasn't looking forward to being alone again.

Mike brought the mugs up and I was so excited to give it to them. They were in individual boxes. I picked the first one up and it said Marie on the bottom. I handed it to Marie and she opened it. She said, "It's a cup that says Amy." Hahaha. Okay, the names didn't match what was written on the bottom. I was so happy with the cups. I love them. Sam told me that the cups I picked for her kids were perfect. She likes to joke that Anne's favorite game is Queen Anne. Anne's cup had a crown. I was worried Jeff wouldn't like his cup. It had a lego pattern. What if he didn't like legos? (I haven't been around Matt's kids for a year and a half because of corona, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to pick good ones.) Sam told me that Jeff loves legos and even saved up his money to buy a lego set that is about to be delivered. I wasn't worried about Greg's. He has always loved balls. Amy's just called to me. I didn't know why. It was ladybugs. Sam pointed out that her blanket she always sleeps with is ladybugs. Haha! I had forgotten! No wonder why that one seemed to fit her! Kaylee's is just simple, but I should have found a mountain goat one. That girl climbs on everything! I think Brett's kids worked out well too. I knew Marie loves Paris, so I got a cute one with an Eiffel Tower pattern. Mina had designed hers last year. She even told me on the phone about it a year ago. Luckily that pattern was saved on my account and I was able to use the same one. Grace loves dragons and Eve is such a dainty princess girl. I think they turned out perfect and I love seeing them hanging up at the cabin. I'll take a picture for tomorrow. I just love it.

The little kids loved playing with Bear Dog. He is a favorite.

I played three games of Dominion today and won all three. I'm happy with that record. One game we played in the afternoon. We tried to get people together, but it didn't work out and we did all the cake things. We tried again. Brett wasn't able to play, so we just played with three. Right after we finished Mike texted and asked what we were doing. I told him we just finished playing Dominion. He asked if we played with cards or online. I told him online. He asked why we didn't ask him to play. Oh my gosh! That would have been perfect, why did I not think of that? That is the entire point of playing online. Mike had just been bored waiting for Stockton to finish at the temple. Whoops. I felt so bad. Other than that the rest of the day was great. I love being here with my family!

Swimming, Hot Tubbing, and No Diving

Stockton went up to the Pepperwood pool to dive with Gavin and his dad. Lightning was seen right as he got there so they kicked everyone out of the pool. Dang it. At least he got to hang out with Gavin. The other divers came over and swam later on today at our house. Gavin, Gage, Connor, Dani and Noelle. They all seemed to have a great time.

Stockton & Gavin
Jorja has been studying very hard this summer for her Step2theU classes. She had a biology test today and worked really hard on it. Hours of studying in the morning. Every spare second she has she is studying. I have been so proud of her. This program has prepared her more for college than anything she has done.

Jorja and her friends hung out together for the last time. Two of them go into the mission field this week. They all went up to Caleb's cabin which is about 30 minutes away. They played games and played in the hot tub. Jorja said it was really fun.

Gavin's in Town

Jorja worked most of the day. Stockton met up with Gavin and his diving friends. Gavin is in town from the Air Force. First time Stockton has been able to hang out with Gavin here. They went to breakfast at Chick-Fil-A and were able to eat with Jorja when she was on break. Today is the first day the dining room has been open since covid shut down the world. I ran to the store to get Stockton a swim shirt. I ended up next to Chick-Fil-A and went in to say hi while everyone was there.

Stockton and his friends went swimming at the Pepperwood pool. Their boards are so much better than they used to be. Actually the entire place is beautiful! They have redone it in the last couple of years. It is so nice. They even have a splash pad now! I probably would have come here more when Preston was little if they had that! The mountains are striking as always. I drove up with Stockton to let his friends in. Each resident can let three people in, so between Stockton and I we were able to get all of his friends in. I stayed for a bit to watch Stockton dive. First time he has done that since his mission. I loved it! Although Stockton's first inward was so close to the board it freaked me out. Haha

Steve and Shannon and their family came over today. It's Steve's birthday. We just played in the pool. It was fun and relaxing. Jorja left early to go see a play her friends were in. Mama Mia. That's about all for today!

The Jazz won game 4 tonight. One more game and they move on! Woohoo! Jorja and Riley came over after Mama Mia. We had a chat with them. We wanted to talk with them before they go on their two graduation trips. I feel much better about them going now, but I will be glad when those are over.

Bunny Kingdom

Stockton left this morning to go to the Air Force. He is going with his diving friends to visit Gavin, another diving friend. Stockton hasn't seen Gavin since his 19th birthday. Gavin can't come home from the Air Force, but he is allowed to have visitors. Gavin has his mission call now and will be leaving to Japan in the next few months. Stockton's going to have a great time.

I took Maysen and Jorja to the dermatologist. Jorja asked me if I could call the seminary and see if she could transfer classes. I think she is the only senior in her class and the only one who makes any comments. She is trying to decide if she should go on a mission as soon as she turns 19 or go to a year of college first. She wants to be in a class with kids that are in the same situation. I called and talked to the principal. He was so nice. He asked if he could talk with Jorja and her teacher. So, as soon as we were done with Jorja's appointment I dropped her off at the seminary building. Jorja said the meeting went well and she is now in a new class. She's happy about it.

Jorja and I went to go get her dress altered for inauguration. Jorja was meeting me there after getting her toenails done. She got her hands done yesterday and then decided she wanted to do both. I was very specific that she needed to meet me at the lady's house at 5:40 because the lady teaches a sewing class at 6:00. The only problem was no one answered the door. Turns out she didn't hear us. She felt so bad. We are going to come tomorrow at noon.

Mike and Preston taught me how to play Bunny Kingdom. Preston won. This is what our board looked like at the end of the game.

Jorja made cake pops and they were delicious. She made several kinds, including frogs. (The others were just round) I have a picture of Maysen with a cake pop, but not Jorja. Haha. These were delicious.

Prom

Gavin & Jorja ~ my favorite picture from prom
First, news about Maysen. She took her final psychology test for her bachelors degree. She scored 178/200, which was the 91st percentile of people who have taken that test in the last five years. Her cognitive psych score was way above the mean. She scored a 92, the mean is between 42-66. Nicely done! She also got to work with the bears again today. I'm saving those pictures for another day so they won't get buried in the prom pictures.

Jorja had a busy day. They started the day at Boondocks. She had a great time and even won a giant ball from the claw machine. They went to Costa Vida after.
Gavin & Jorja
Cori set us up with her daughter-in-law to do her hair. It looked beautiful! This is Glen's wife. Glen is in Afghanistan. He's been there for a long time. Almost a year. They have a baby that is walking around, but she was three months when he left. Deployments stink.
Jorja looked so beautiful. She had a great time at the dance. The place was a little crowded though. Still, she was so glad to have this experience. After the dance they went back to Gavin's house and watched Spy Kids. Odd choice. She was exhausted when she got home. Man, these dances sure take up the entire day!
Gavin & Jorja ~ never realized how horrible our lighting is
Jorja has tiny wrists. We put a rubber band around it and it worked like a charm.

Gavin's dad took the pictures. The rest of the group changed the location at the last minute. Gavin didn't notice his message until it was too late. They didn't get any group pictures, but the pictures here with the mountains in the background turned out better than the others in their group.

 Jorja's prize ball
 I love this one.
This one is my favorite though. I put it here twice.
Jorja thought it was funny he answered his phone during pictures.
Jorja got back pretty late. She kept me informed as to where she was, so I felt better. Still, it was nice to hear the door open. I always feel better when my children are home.
