Biggest Enemy

I took Preston to Bountiful to see the dermatologist. They are starting him on accutane. I have a huge regret about not starting this with Maysen and Stockton early. Maysen had bad acne, but it didn't bother her. I should have just scheduled the appointments and had her take the treatment. She wouldn't have complained and then she wouldn't have had to deal with the acne as long as she had to. I just didn't know what to do and didn't know this was available and affordable. I'm starting early with Preston so he won't have to deal with this in highschool hopefully.

Jorja dressed up for Halloween today. She went as Chef Linguini. She had her stuffed Remy her friends gave her on her shoulder. She looked adorable.

Jorja takes a volleyball class at school. She always tells me how bad she is at it. Well, today she was on the worst team and they were playing the best team. Somehow she blocked Dylan Mismash's ball and won the game for her team. Dylan sent her this snap later in the day. Hahaha

Jorja went to the counseling office to talk about a lot of things. Her Step to the U grade still hasn't been fixed. They ended up taking the entire class off of her transcript while she applies for college. They are trying to get ahold of Jose to see why it hasn't been fixed. I hope they put it back on! With the correct grade! It did make her grade go from a 3.8 to a 3.9. So annoying that Jose did this to her!

Home and Done

We are home!!! Mike got up early this morning and sailed the boat to the boat ramp. Bear cried and cried as he left. He woke up Dessa and Kate. I talked to them for a long time this morning. It was fun. Mike was able to get the boat out of the water by himself. The boat ramp wasn't crowded, so that was great. We spent the rest of the morning cleaning up and then Jorja and her friends left. They drove the van so we could tow the boat behind the pilot. I was so happy when Jorja sent me the message that she was home. I worry so much, especially with the driving. Yay for a fun, safe trip!

Mike and I were a couple hours behind Jorja. Once Jorja got home she worked frantically on finishing her final paper for one of her classes. She submitted it at 11:59. It was due at midnight. Cutting it close, but she is 100% done with Step to the U for the summer! Yay! Yay! Yay! She got a B+ in her English class, but the rest should be As. The B+ was a bit frustrating because Jorja received 2 out of 3 points on her attendance every class. She contacted the teacher and asked what she could do better. The teacher wrote back, "You're doing great!" If Jorja would have gotten 3 out of 3s, she would have had an A in the class. I'm so proud of how hard Jorja worked this summer. She took this a lot more seriously than she did when school went online in the spring. Jorja said that she was just in denial then. Now she has twelve more college credits. She's not going to regret getting those done early!

Final Art

 Jorja had me get her up super early this morning for another early morning hike. This girl has gotten no sleep. Step 2 the U ends this week, so hopefully she will be able to use that time to sleep. Also, school has been pushed back one week. That is great news for Jorja! It will give the SBOs more time to work on their video and Jorja will get two full weeks of stress free summer. Also, they announced that they aren't going to make up those days, so even better!

Jorja finished an art project and then went to school to glue it to a giant collage. All done with art now! Woohoo! Jorja, Dessa and Kate went on a triple date. It was a blind date for Jorja. They went hiking and she had a great time.

Our nephew, Jacob, entered home MTC today. He was called to serve in the Columbia, Cali mission. He has been reassigned to Albuquerque, New Mexico. I hope Mike and Christen and their family get to meet him! Mike and I went to the cabin today. We brought Bear with us. We wanted to finish painting the cabin before Jorja comes up with her friends this weekend. Luckily Maysen is feeling a lot better and doesn't need me to bandage her anymore. I wouldn't have been able to leave her a few days ago. These telfa pads we got from the doctors are amazing. Super hard to find in the stores, but Amazon had a pack of 50 of them for $10. I would recommend every house having some. When you need them you don't want to wait for 2 day shipping. Non-stick pads, even Bandaid brand, just didn't cut it.

Accidental Art

Today was Trevor's baptism! We were able to watch it on zoom. How awesome is this??? We didn't need to travel to Virginia to be a part of his special day. I hope after the world goes back to semi normal that things like this stay. Mallory and Cassie were the witnesses. That was cool too. Anyways, glad we were able to be a part of it.

Our entire family is soooo sore. We have BAD sunburns. Except Stockton who is in Arizona and Jorja who the sun seemed to skip. Mike is getting blisters and they hurt. The next few days are not going to be fun.

Jorja has been so great about keeping up with her Step to the U assignments. She was not great at online school the end of the year, so I'm thrilled that she has pulled it together for this. She told me that she was upset and in denial about school getting shut down. Her grades were decent, but she benefited from a relaxed turn-in-late policy. (By decent I mean she got a 4.0 the fourth quarter. All As and two A-s the 3rd quarter. So, really... a lot more than decent.) Anyway, she has been a beast with her summer school classes. I'm so proud of her! She worked on her art class today. She turned in this line sidewalk chalk project. They had to draw something with lines on the sidewalk and leave lines so other people could add to it.

She also had an accidental art project. She had these pictures on her phone. Not sure what she ended up turning in. I'm guessing it was the first one though.

Bubs was texting me today asking if we would like a snowsuit we let them use years ago. It was Maysen's purple one. He had the jacket and he is looking for the pants. It was my favorite. I love this picture of Mike and Maysen. They had just gone down the sled hill and Maysen was dazed.

Jorja and I went shopping today. We finally got her snow tires off! Yay! We had fun at the book store. Jorja hates to read, but she loves self help books. We found a couple for her. She wants to start a girls student government book club. Probably a leadership book for that. She is amazing.

Jorja had a triple date tonight. She took Brenton, Ella took Aiden and Grace took Lucas. They went to Pizza Limone and went and saw a drive in movie. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Jorja and Brenton have been friends for years. They have been pretty close recently. She is thrilled to be a student body officer with him.

Stockton is doing great! We got to talk to him today. There is a mountain on fire near him. Hope they get that taken care of and hope no one gets hurt. Today is Sam's birthday. I dropped off Kaylee's stocking today. I even got to hold her! She is all the way off of oxygen now! Woohoo!

Jorja had a mostly good day. She got up before 5 to go watch the sunrise with Hailey and Allison. She also started Step to the U. It was long. She had zoom calls from 9:00-3:30. Long day, but after she had a date with her friend Ben. Ben lives in Alta boundaries, but goes to Jordan for the Spanish Immersion program. They have been friends for years, but became close friends when they had drivers ed together. They had talked for years about having a Webkinz date. So, today was the day. Unfortunately they could not find anywhere that sold Webkinz. So they just had to play with the ones they already had.

Jorja showed me this cute tiktok she is making to the song Fine. Jorja is lip syncing the first line that says 'I'm going to be fine.' She is crying as she said that. That was from yesterday. Now, as she videos other lines with her friends that she has been hanging out with. She showed me how much she has and it is super cute.

Jorja got added to a group chat the day Bode and Luke found her. Jorja has wanted to be in this chat for years. She even asked if she could be in it in 8th grade but was told no. (I'm guessing the person she asked maybe didn't know how to add people. I can't imagine them not letting people in, but that was the impression Jorja got.) Then she was afraid to ask to be in it again. Anyway, she is now in it and is so happy. One of the girls, Ella, asked if anyone wanted to get Bahama Bucks with her. Jorja said yes and she was off on another adventure. It ended up being Ella, Luke and Aiden I think. They filled a piñata with beans and destroyed it. Weirdos. Jorja loved it though.

Riley and Jorja had planned on talking today after he got off of work. They met at our church parking lot and talked for over an hour. Jorja was able to ask him about the different things she had found out about. It was good closure for her. She ended up telling Riley she didn't think she could be friends with him anymore, that it just hurt too bad. Maybe one day they can be friends again, it will never be like it was though. Jorja told him that she wished they were never more than friends. This is exactly what Jorja was worried would happen. She will be fine though. Just like her song.
