Fake Prom

Jorja woke up super early to go on a hike and see the sunrise with friends. They went to a park after the hike. Carter brought his new-for-him moped. He was letting people drive it. Jack crashed into Giselle's car. Jorja said the moped was in pretty bad shape. She brought Jack to our house because she knew we had tons of bandages right now. Jorja and I got Jack patched up then someone came to take him home.

Jorja wasn't able to bring him home because she had an SBO meeting at our house that was going to start soon. They are trying to figure out the 40 minute hello video. She had fun working with them on it though. They have a long ways to go! Mike has been working hard on the duck pond. This is the current state.

One of my former beehives has come home from her mission. She served in the Indianapolis, Indiana mission. Just like my brother Brett and my cousin Paul. Anyway, she cut all of our hair and did Jorja's hair fancy for her 'fake prom' tonight. Jorja put on some fake nails while Kelsee did her hair. Multitasking. Haha.

Jorja & Kelsee

I left Mike at Kelsee's house and hurried Jorja home as soon as her hair was done. Joe was going to be there real soon. I helped Jorja get into her dress and then pinned it up with safety pins. We meant to get the dress altered, but corona shut the world down and we never got around to it. The top layer is still too long, but at least she won't trip on the heavier fabric. She is planning on wearing this dress to senior dinner dance, if they are able to have it. We will get it altered for that one. Joe and Jorja doubled with Drew and Janelle. They dressed up for pictures and then immediately changed. That was the compromise. Joe did not want to stay dressed up. Jorja wanted pictures. They went to the Flight Park and watched hang gliders and talked. They painted rocks and went to a pizza restaurant. Then they watched JoJoRabbit at Janelle's house. I'm not sure about the order of everything. Here are pictures from the prom.

Driving Bear

Jorja got her yearbook today. Super anticlimactic. The juniors were supposed to pick up their yearbook from 10-11. Jorja was doing step to the u and asked if I would get it for her. I put her name in my windshield and headed down to Alta. They had it super organized. I found the S line and they gave me a ticket when they saw Jorja's name. I went to the next booth, still in my car, and they exchanged my ticket for her yearbook. So, that was that. Jorja finished her classes around 3:30 then hung out with Drew for a few hours. They made necklaces and played volleyball with a bunch of other people.

Mike spent the day working and getting ready for the cabin. He had to get the motorhome inspected. He took Bear with him who liked to pretend to drive when Mike wasn't in the car.
Driving Bear
We headed to Idaho around dinnertime. We went through Idaho Falls because Mike was still on call and we didn't want to go through pockets of no-service. Bear loved being in the passenger seat. Mike was listening to a book that he needed to read for work. So, I slept on the way up there. We got to the cabin around 12:30, just in time for bed. It is nice to be back up here!

Quitting Chicken

Jorja didn't have a super long shift today. Four and a half hours. She called it a baby shift as she was walking out the door. She didn't have to close, which was nice. When she came home she walked in the door, looked at me and said, "Well, I quit my job today." That was not what I was expecting to hear. Chick-Fil-A has built these coverings for people who are outside, which is nice. Everyone gets to be under them except one person. That was Jorja today. It was pouring rain. They left her out there for a long time. When she finally got put inside, she was on window. She said she kept getting yelled at and just couldn't handle it. She started crying. They let her go to the bathroom to calm down. While she was there she thought, "What if I quit today?" She said she prayed about it and felt really good. She decided that if she had her one-on-one interview today that she would put in her two weeks notice. She had it, so she did. She told her manager that she doesn't feel valued and some other things that were bothering her. Jorja has wanted to quit for a long time. She planned on quitting if she won student body office, but then corona happened. Her next plan was to quit after summer, so this is only a few months earlier than she would have quit anyway. It will be nice to have Jorja around more. I'm excited.

Drew came over today. They sang weird Pokemon songs and binge watched Avatar. Jorja had a great time. It was nice to see Drew. I haven't seen him in a long time.

Kaylee's Handprints

So....Jorja was sick again. She missed the entire day of school. She probably would have tried to get the last classes, but she was supposed to go on a field trip for PLT anyway. She also missed the Valentine party in student government. Ever since Jorja had mono last year, whenever she gets sick, she gets really sick and has a hard time shaking it. Still, nothing has compared to the awful days when she first had mono.

Mike had work off. He gets every other Friday off, except during crunch time ~ Black Friday and Christmas season. It was perfect timing because Sherry came down from Highland to do Kaylee's handprints. Super nice of her to do that! She had the day off of school today and spent it doing us a favor. It was awesome. I have a lot of pictures of Kaylee getting her handprints, but none of her footprints. Weird. Also, I couldn't help but put every picture with Amy watching in the background. Haha

Poor little girl. You will love the handprints when you are older though. If you notice all the Enfamil in the background, it is because Matt and Sam are stockpiling it. This is the only thing Kaylee will eat and it has been discontinued. Matt searched every store from Provo to Layton yesterday getting as much as he can. Sam has a lot of writer friends around the country. Some of them are sending her some. Bad timing for this. Hopefully by the time they go through it all her little body will be able to tolerate something else.

Mike and I went to lunch at Sizzler after the handprints were done. That was nice, fun and relaxing. We tried to convince Jorja to go with us, but she wasn't hungry. She hasn't been hungry for a long time. Jorja had her ACT camp today. She picked Drew up at school and they got to Provo for the 3:00 check-in. Evan and Gabby were also there. She said it was a lot more fun that she thought it would be, which was great. Evan and Drew were in one group. Gabby and Jorja were in another. She is hoping that she will be in a group with someone she knows tomorrow since it is all day. Fingers crossed for that one!

Once she got back she picked up Ben and they stopped by Crumbl. Jorja had a coupon for free cookies. Then they went to Smiths before Jorja came home. Hopefully she isn't sick tomorrow! Also, Mike finally finished the Sweethearts video. It is awesome. Here is the link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEYgVkgdzzA

Chinese/Engineering Camp

That's right. Preston had a Chinese/Engineering camp today. It was at the Gateway. He was invited and didn't have to pay. He wasn't too excited about this. Maysen and I drove him there. It took forever to park, but after that it was smooth sailing. We dropped him off and then the two of us went shopping. We ended up driving to City Creek. We found Maysen a swimsuit that she really likes and we got her shoes. She picked out the same shoes Preston has. They fit great once they are on, but they are a bit of a struggle to get on. They are supposed to get easier as she wears them. Hope they do! Anyway, Preston ended up loving his camp. They made rockets. He was paired up with a Chinese boy. Preston said he understood him great. It was cool because lately anytime we ask him about Chinese he says he doesn't understand it. This was perfect for him.

Jorja went to lunch with Drew while we were gone. They also got slurpees for 7-11 day. Drew is such a great kid, I'm glad they were able to do this before Jorja had to head to work.

Lagoon with Friends

Megan Okerlund and I went exercising this morning. She picked me up and it was wonderful. Exercising with a friend makes it so much better. Plus, I love Megan. She is awesome!

Jorja spent the day at Lagoon with friends. Hailey and Chloee were supposed to come too, but Hailey was sick and Chloee got in a car accident yesterday. She's okay, but not good enough to go to an amusement park. Luckily Brynlee (her twin) was still able to come. Here are random pictures Jorja took.

Jorja thought this panorama picture was so funny
She cropped it to just her and Brynlee
They now use this picture for about everything. Like they will send the picture with a caption, "When Jorja takes a test" They think this picture will work for any situation, so they use it ALL.THE.TIME.

Spencer played a soccer game and won a Minecraft character. He gave it to Jorja. It matched the character Brynlee had in her pocket. Jorja has named him Clyde. Not sure if Brynlee's has a name or not.

Jorja texted me around 7:30 and said they were ready to leave Lagoon, but wanted to know if she could hang out at Spencer's house. I told her to be home by 11:00 and not one minute later. After we finished the details I started to wonder if it was just Jorja going to Spencer's house, or if everyone was going there. That got me worried. Well, turns out it was just Jorja. Brynlee had to get home and Drew asked to be dropped off. They went with a few other people, but they had a separate ride. Spencer is the oldest of five and Jorja adores his younger siblings. The first time she hung out with Spencer it was with his entire family. So, at least the two of them weren't alone. After awhile they decided to go downstairs and watch a movie. Jorja asked one of the younger brothers if he wanted to come and watch with them. That made me so happy. She is learning! Also, Spencer's parents came down and watched the movie with them. That made me happy again. She got home right at 11:00. Spencer walked her to the door. Preston was looking out the window. It was pretty funny.
