Housing Secured!

We got up early this morning and made it to Steve & Sharon's cabin by 7:45. Sharon got us all geared up and we headed to the river. We had two great runs. Two rafts on the first one and one on the second. Mike was able to go on the first one. We both used our wetsuits and I ended up being so grateful for that! Sharon had Tage and Dallin each have a turn on the stick. That was great! Mike went back to the cabin after the first run. Sherry was going to be there before the second run was over. I decided to keep my wetsuit on for the second run even though multiple people told me I would be too hot. Usually the second run is pretty hot and I just wasn't sure what I should do. Well, it wasn't today. It was colder than the first run. (That rarely happens!) I was very thankful I kept it on because I was cozy the entire time! We hit some good waves the second run and we were covered! It was also fun to see Sharon enjoying the raft. The second run had a lot of people since we only had one boat and only two less people from the previous run. Sharon just got to ride and she enjoyed every second of it!

When we finished the runs and finished cleaning up, Tage, Dallin and I watched a video with Steve, Sharon and Ruby. (Ruby is a 12 year old girl that was at the cabin with Sharon's brother and sis-in-law. They were planning on staying until Friday, but their daughter called early in the morning to tell them that her water broke and she would be having her baby, five weeks early. Stockton style.) Ruby also LOVED Tage. She thought Tage was the coolest person she ever met. Tage was also super nice to her. It was really cute. After the rafting video, Steve took us back to our cabin. I ran in and got rafting pictures that had my mom in it. This was taken on her birthday in 1993. The last birthday she had before she got cancer. She probably had cancer in these pictures and just didn't know it. I snapped some pictures before handing them to Steve. It is hard giving up pieces of my mom, even though giving them to Steve & Sharon will be so much better than having them stuffed in a drawer. One of my favorite things about these pictures is my mom's handwriting on the back. It's awesome. I love looking at her name. She wrote the best cursive rs. Anyway, I gave them to Steve and Sharon for their collection. Crazy this was her birthday. I miss her.

Mike was gone when we got back. He was at the lake with the Hardys. They had fun playing with the jet ski. Xander and Miah loved it! The Hardys also brought their dog Nagi. Bear and Nagi had fun playing on the beach. Luckily they are getting along.

Scoop and Cori arrived shortly after Mike got back from the beach. Perfect timing. This is the first time Mike's dad has been here and Mike loved showing him around.

We had hamburgers and played games. We had a giant Canadian Salad game. I thought I had tied Mike with 20 points (which is an excellent score on that game) but I missed a trick and ended up taking second with 30 points. Everyone else was in the 100s I think, but I still lost by 10. Fun that Mike won that though.

The best thing that happened today was Stockton and Alyssa secured housing! Alyssa noticed that housing was being opened again on July 6th at 9:00. Ten spots were available. They got everything ready and decided to send two emails. Stockton sent his right at 9:00 and Alyssa sent hers at 9:00 and 20 seconds. Stockton got an email saying he got in if the forms were filled out and the deposit paid in the next 24 hours. Alyssa got one saying that they were sorry, they got over 100 applications in 10 minutes. Wow! So thankful they will have a place to stay in the fall! They put a 1 bedroom as their first choice and a 2 bedroom as their second. They will find out in a couple of weeks which one they get. So relieved and thankful they were able to get in!!!!!

Preston in Provo

Mike took Bear to get a haircut early this morning. He really needed one! Bear is pretty well behaved when he does things like that. Thank goodness!

Handsome Bear Dog
I took Preston to FSY this morning. We left plenty early. I got an email saying that some roads would be closed for parades, because it's the Fourth of July. I wasn't sure how traffic would be either. Preston and I stopped by Harmon's and I let him pick out some snacks. We made it to BYU about twenty minutes before check-in. There were already lines, so we waited in them. Once 11:00 hit we got through pretty quickly. Our next task was setting up Preston in his room. We decided to walk to Building 8. It wasn't too bad, although I brought Jorja two extra blankets that made it a little awkward. Once she met us and took those away it was smooth sailing. We found his room and were the first ones there. The only problem, his key only fit into the last room but he was assigned room 2. We just decided to set up in the room that the key fit. Here is Preston in room 3.
Preston
We were about to leave when one of his roommates came. His key also only fit room 3 and he was assigned room 3. I went back and tried all the other rooms again. Preston's key didn't work in room 1 but worked in both rooms 2 & 3. I don't know why we couldn't get room 2 open the first time we tried it. Preston and I then spent the next thirty minutes moving everything to room 2. It wasn't too bad and I was glad to get him all settled. This bed is also lower which I think Preston will like better.
Preston Room 2
Preston's roommate came when we were about to leave the dorms for the second time. His name is Max and he will be a senior at Highland. He seemed really nice and friendly, so hopefully Preston will have a great time. There are four other roommates and they are all going to be seniors. Preston will be a sophomore next year.

I wanted to get Preston lunch before I left. When I thought we would have lots of time I made the brilliant decision to leave my purse thing in the car. Whoops. Preston's dorm was right next to the BYU Creamery. Luckily there is a mini-creamery in-between his dorm and where I left the car. We walked back to that and Preston was able to get a sandwich and ice-cream. I got Blue Goggles ice-cream and it was so good! Blue mint ice-cream with cookie dough and chocolate covered honeycomb. Anyway, after lunch I said goodbye to Preston and hurried home.

Steve & Shannon and their family came over for dinner and swimming. It was a low key thing so we didn't put much thought into it. Mike made pizzas for our family and Steve made burgers for his. Brandon also brought his roommates so there ended up being a crowd. It was perfect weather and turned out to be a really good time.

Stockton gave Alyssa her ring today. He tried to find a good place with fireworks, but kept getting foiled. Sometimes by police, sometimes by sprinklers. He ended up giving her the ring in front of her house. He got on his knee and everything. Guess things are official now! Haha

Six Fish

Mike, Preston, Scoop and Steve spent the morning fishing at Bridger Lake. It sounded like they had a great time. Scoop and Steve left a little before Mike and Preston, but those guys got home by 5:00. I was pleasantly surprised! Bear dog kept me quite busy while Mike was gone! I did manage to deep clean the shower today. Spent way too long doing that, but it is nice to have done.

Steak for Dinner

Maysen and I drove down to Salt Lake so she could turn in some paperwork for her new job. She didn't have to go to the Friday meeting today, but we thought it would be a great time to see what lunch places are near her building. She is in North Salt Lake, kind of in a warehouse area. Her building is really nice though. There is a place called 'Handle Bar' that is close enough to walk. We decided to check that out. It really is a bar. We were carded and everything when we arrived. The server kept trying us to get a drink saying that 'he wouldn't tell.' The food was great though. Maysen loved it. I'm glad that if she doesn't bring a lunch she has an easy option.

Mike and Preston spent the day fishing at Bridger Lake. Scoop and Steve came up today and fished with them. They all stayed in the motorhome. Sounded like they had the best time, even though cows decided to camp with them. Here are random pictures from the day.

Jorja sent me a lot of pictures from today too. Looks like she had a lot of fun! She doesn't have classes on Fridays, but when there is a home football game the ambassadors end up doing a lot. She loves it.

Back to Parrydise

I took Stockton to Salt Lake for diving this morning. He has been driving quite a bit to do that! I finished packing when I got home. I didn't get as much finished as I wanted to. Hopefully my brothers and their families don't judge me! I took Preston with me and went to pick up Stockton. Jorja was getting a haircut, so she stayed behind with Mike. Bear was also getting a haircut, which is why I went ahead of Mike. Preston and I got Stockton and then headed straight to the cabin. We stopped in Evanston at Paffs and had carne asada fries. First time there. It was good except for the hand sanitizer that got squirted into my eye.
Mike let the ducks wander
Mike got to the cabin about an hour after we did. Bear took the front seat and Jorja was banished to the back. Maysen stayed behind. She is still not feeling well. We are hoping she is better by Wednesday and can come up for the second leg of our cabin trip.
Bear

Mike and I did a test run on Bear's fence. We were 5 seconds away when Bear came charging through the fence at full speed. There was one post that had just a bit more space and he found it. Haha. Mike moved six boards and fixed that. We tried again in the front yard and again.... 5 seconds until Bear found another spot. He is Houdini!
Can you find the space that was too big?
Mike and I went to the grocery store. This is my first time in this store. It is a lot bigger than Alpine Market. Who would have thought that a bigger store would be built even closer? I took a picture of this "cake" It is cotton candy. I don't know how I feel about this!

Steve and Shannon and their family got here around 10:00. Shannon and Weston got here first. Steve, Erica, Brandon and Jacob were just a bit later. This is going to be a fun weekend!
