Classroom Safe

Jorja and a few of her friends headed to the canyon to take pictures. I helped Jorja get ready for the day. It was going to be a long one. Mike made cinnamon rolls for Jorja to take, we got her work stuff ready and then found her hippie costume so she could go to her PLT party after work.

Jorja worked for eight hours and then headed to her PLT party. She called us on the way. She did not want to go. She hates parties. I told her to go anyway. She was there for one minute when she texted 'This is so awkward" "I hate parties" I told her to give it a chance and find Jaren. About five minutes later she texted "I'm fine now I moved seats. I'm by Jaren." There are some people that calm Jorja just with their presence. I love those people. Jaren is one of them. Jorja ended up having a great time.

On a completely unrelated note. I saw these at the store. Who would market this candy as 'classroom safe'? There are going to be people that believe this. What about the people allergic to milk or eggs? Just in my family that is Larkin, Blake and Skye. I actually love Sixlets, but this packaging is awful.

Quinceanera

Jorja came to the store with me after school. I wanted to get some things for Maysen's birthday cake and conference breakfast on Sunday. I don't know what happened, but there was a smell in the store that was making me sick. It was so strong. It smelled like ham. Really, really strong ham. Even Jorja could smell it, and her sense of smell is weak. I skipped most of my list and just got out of there as fast as I could. At least I got a cake mix and frosting for Maysen. I had to send Jorja down the isle to look at frosting because I couldn't handle whatever that smell was. So weird.

I decided to swing by the mall while we were out to see if we could find a cheap homecoming dress for Jorja. I was trying to talk her into wearing one she already had, but she was stressing about that. She said it was too hard to explain the color. Jorja picked out this dress from the sale rack. It ended up being $30. The great thing is she will be able to wear this dress all year. There were several times last year she would be asked to dress up for different assemblies. This dress will match her student government sweater perfectly. It also doesn't have sleeves that will bunch up when she puts her sweater on. I think she will get a lot of use out of this dress, so I'm happy with it.

Jorja hurried home and got ready for Jazelle's quinceanera. The party was from 7:30-12:00. We drove Jorja's bug and picked up Jaren on the way. Jorja said it was the tall person test. Jaren said the back seat wasn't that bad. He's super nice though, so who knows. Jorja had a lot of fun. She said she danced the entire time except for a half an hour while she was eating. That's about four hours. Wow. She did also get a lot of chocolate on her dress from the chocolate fountain. I was thankful Jaren's parents brought them home. I did not want to do that.

I watched BYU's embarrassing loss to Utah State. It was awful for them. At least I like Utah State a lot. Speaking of Utah State, Maysen and Stockton came home today! Yay!!! I love it when they are home. They got home pretty late, but they are here safe and sound. All my family is home. I love this.

Lumify

Today was the first official day of our summer break! Yay! I spent it wisely. Doing laundry. It was so frustrating though. For some reason, our circuit breaker kept going off. It took forever to get the laundry finished when I kept having to walk to the side of the house to flip the switch. We have come to the conclusion that the dryer and the air conditioner can't be run at the same time. I don't like that conclusion.

Mike came home from work and started attacking this poor tree. It looks like a mouth is going to eat Mike, but have no fear, Mike conquered.
Mike and tree mouth.
I ordered eye drops at the Walmart that was near our house. They were supposed to be in after 3:00 today. I went and waited, only to find out that they were never actually ordered. I asked if they had the drops at another Walmart. She started looking on the computer and told me they had them in Salt Lake. When I asked if there was any closer, she said, "Oh! I'll check." Really? Why wouldn't you check the close Walmarts first? Weird. I was told they were at the Quarry Bend Walmart. So, that is where I headed next. It was so annoying because I couldn't turn left on the road I needed to, so I had to go way out of my way to get to the store. In nasty traffic. Once there, I looked everywhere for the eye section. I finally found it, but the drops weren't there. I waited in line to ask where they were. The lady looked and couldn't find them either. She asked someone else who pointed to a giant display that was around the corner from the eye section. Haha!
Stockton went up to the neighborhood pool and helped Gavin coach diving. He's excited because Gavin asked him if he could coach while he is on various camps. Stockton added up how much he would earn and was very happy with the results. This was the last time diving was in the afternoon. Next week it will go to morning. He came home with his diving friends. They went to Gavin's house and played games. Jorja went bowling with Hallie, Jaren and Julian. The three kids she went with had never met each other, they just each knew Jorja. When I picked them up, they were all joking around like they were best pals. That's great. Jaren has struggled making friends since his move to California.  Sometimes it is easier to meet and bond with people in non-school settings. Anyway, both Stockton and Jorja were tired when they got home. This made Maysen and Preston a bit disappointed. Tonight is stay up all night-night. Stockton and Jorja didn't want to participate this year. Maysen and Preston played games by themselves. They were planning to play every Mario Party board, which they anticipated lasting all night. I don't know if Maysen and Preston are still going to try. At least the two of them have a lot of fun together.

Big Tree

Mike went in our backyard and this is what he found. Sad. It probably fell in the huge windstorm a few days ago. This was such a surprise. We had no worries about this tree falling. Luckily Mike didn't set up the batting cage yet. That thing would have been destroyed.

 Jorja's frogs were buried here.
 Preston
This is not going to be fun to get rid of.
Jorja spent the day with Hailey and Madison. They were downstairs for awhile, then they made cookies for Jaren. I drove Jorja and her friends to Jaren's new house. They are moving into our neighborhood and are in the process of fixing up the house. I talked to Jaren's parents for awhile. Both of them separately told me how thankful they are for Jorja. Jaren has had a hard time making friends since he moved here from California at the beginning of the school year. Jaren's mom's name is Karity. I have no idea how to spell that. His dad's name is Jeff. Karity's dad was there. Karity's brother is Shandon Cole, so she was telling her dad how Mike was a SBO with Shandon. When he realized I was in the same grade he said, "So you knew Shandon too?" I said that I did but I knew Casey and Carly Cole better. He was shocked I knew them. Apparently Karity lived near us until she was three years old. I did not know that. Anyway, it was nice getting to know Jaren's parents a bit.

I finally pulled Jorja away and took the girls to the store. They wanted to go to Plato's Closet, then I took them to the mall. I just sat in the car at the mall because there wasn't time for me to go home and back before the mall was going to close. Jorja invited me to come with them, but I had had enough shopping for the day. Jorja seemed to have a great time.

Jaren

Mike got a crown fixed at the dentist this morning. Now his ear is hurting him again. When I say hurting, I mean stop you in your tracks can't move and have to scream kind of pain. I sure hope it goes away. Not fun for him at all.

Preston and I had book club today. I love Inkheart and I am so glad to be able to read it with Preston. I hurried home from book club to say goodbye to Rachel. She is taking her kids to Bountiful for a family reunion. Meatfest. Sounds delicious.

Jorja stayed after school to retake her English test. Jaren's mom brought her back home. Jaren is her friend that just moved here from California. I got to talk to her mom for awhile. That was nice. I can't remember her name though. I know Jaren's older sister's name is Breezy. We went to school with Jaren's mom's brother. Shandon Cole. He was a student body officer with Mike. Fun family.

Rachel came back from Meatfest and brought us some meat! Yay! Mike, Preston and I have been playing a lot of Pandemic Legacy Season 2 lately. We have been loving it!

Fishes, Diving, and EFY

Today was a crazy busy day. Lots of things happening at the same time. I will break things up into three different sections. First, Maysen and Preston. Maysen is taking an Oceanography class at Utah State. They had a field trip at the aquarium by our house. Maysen asked if Preston would want to meet her here and go with her. He was SO EXCITED! Preston is the most vocal about missing Maysen and jumps at every chance to see her. Maysen told them they would have to be at the aquarium at 9:45 at the latest or Preston might not be able to in with her. Mike was there right on time. Maysen was driving through Bountiful. Oh boy. Once the bus arrived they wouldn't let anyone off of it because one more bus was still coming. Preston could see Maysen, but couldn't get to her.

Maysen and Preston! Preston's much happier now!
 Preston eating lunch.
Mike picked up Preston around 2:00. He said Preston loved the field trip. Maysen headed back on the bus to Logan. How fun that he got to see her for a few hours. I wish I did! I couldn't see Maysen because Stockton had his regional diving competition. It was held at the U, so I needed to volunteer. Gavin's dad picked up Stockton at 6:30 this morning. Warm ups started at 7:00. Stockton and Gavin weren't scheduled to dive for a few hours, so Gavin's dad took them to breakfast. I was assigned to put the scores in the computer. It is an easy job, but I got soaked. The computer got soaked. Too bad for me, my cross stitch bag got soaked. I forgot it was under my chair. Once I realized I hurried and pulled everything out. I had all the papers and the fabric drying on the giant foam square thing behind me. So glad the red didn't bleed! Stockton did great on one meter. He placed high enough to go to Nationals in Florida. Yay! He actually wanted to go this year. Stockton has earned a spot to go to Nationals on other years, it just never worked out. Regionals are usually on Saturday and Sunday. They will have 3 meter on Saturday and 1 meter on Sunday. Then Nationals will have 1 meter on Saturday and 3 meter on Sunday. It is quite annoying. Anyway, this time they had one and three meter both on Saturday. It made for a really long day, but yay! 1 meter will be on Saturday at Nationals. 3 meter will be on Sunday, so Stockton will only compete in 1 meter. Here are a few of his dives.

Mike dropped off Preston at the aquarium and then hurried up to the U to watch Stockton. He was able to watch him dive most of 1 meter. He had to leave to go back and pick up Preston and take Jorja up to Orem. He dropped Jorja off in Orem and raced back to Salt Lake to watch Stockton. He got to see the end of his 3 meter competition. Yikes! That's a lot of driving! Stockton also earned a spot to go to Nationals in 3 meter, but he is going to decline it because of the Sunday thing. I also worked the computer during this event. Stockton texted me after one of his dives and said that Gavin wasn't going to do his 205 (back 2 1/2). I showed the text to Gavin's dad who was announcing next to me.  Then Gavin failed his 107 (front 3 1/2). You can't fail two dives and make it to Nationals. He had to do it and land it, but he did not want to. His mom wasn't very happy with him. They had already bought tickets and everything. Stockton got Mickey to talk to him. I watched Mickey try to calm Gavin down, which raised my opinion of Mickey. Gavin went up on the board. He turned around like he was going to go for it, then he turned back around like he was just going to jump off, then he turned around again. He threw it and landed it. That was a lot of pressure. He was so scared. I don't know why he signed up for that dive. He hadn't even tried it for six months I guess. He was always too scared to do it in practice. Anyway, he made it to Nationals too, so that is great. Now we just have to find some cheap plane tickets!
Stockton ~ reverse tuck ~ there is a maximum degree of difficulty,
so Stockton had to lower some of his dives to meet that qualification.

Jorja got to go to a mini EFY today. It was held in Orem. Mike dropped her off, but she ended up hanging out with several boys. She loved that!

Jaren moved here from California at the start of the year. Jorja was so excited he was able to come. His family just bought a house in our neighborhood, although they won't be in our ward. They are staying in a rental house at the moment. I drove up to Orem to pick up Jorja. She tried to get some of the boys to ride home with us. They weren't allowed to. She found out later they went to In and Out. She was a bit sad. She says that sometimes she wishes she was a boy so she could hang out with them. She has more close friends that are boys than girls. Jorja would not enjoy being a boy. She is way too girly for that!
