Seminary

Today is the first day of the second semester. Jorja ended up getting all As with two A-. Math and physics. Not bad. Jorja didn't like her seminary teacher last semester. Stockton had the same teacher his senior year and didn't like him either. I heard about him a lot. A few weeks ago when I had to check Jorja out because she was sick, I was talking to the seminary secretary. I asked her if they would switch teachers or try and keep them with the same ones. She said they would try and keep them with the same teacher unless they were asked differently. I asked her if she could move Jorja. She said no problem and that she was working on the class lists right then. Welp, Jorja got the same teacher. She texted me in a panic about it. I tried and tried to call, but no one would pick up the phone. Anyways, I eventually got through and was able to get Jorja moved to a different class. Two of Jorja's really good friends are in her old class this semester, but Jorja said she just couldn't do it. Spencer, her ex boyfriend, is also in the class. I think it would be super annoying for her to be in seminary with him. Maybe another class, but not seminary. After all, he broke up with her because he 'had a prompting'. That is all well and good, but was the prompting for him to ghost her all summer? I think it would be really annoying for Jorja to have to listen to him being all righteous, knowing that he wasn't kind to her at all.

Anyway, for the youth activity tonight they went iceskating. Jorja texted me to let me know she lost Preston. Ahhh! I asked her if they were at the rink. She never answered. Losing him at the rink is one thing. Losing him before they got there would be another. She just couldn't find him. He was with Darius. They both came back with sore feet and asked if they could take ice skating lessons in the summer. Haha.

Macbeth, Jumanji, Skating

Jorja had a busy day today. I ended up being her Uber driver. First, Jorja was at Macbeth from 9-2. Hailey came over for a bit, which Jorja loved! Hailey has been in California this week and Jorja has been going through withdrawals. I then took the girls and Isaac to the movie theater so they could see Jumanji. I picked them up from In-and-Out and took them to Cottonwood to go iceskating. Then picked them up after. It was a lot of driving. I hope Jorja appreciates it.

Mike spent today working with Preston on making a Valentine's box. Preston loves it! It isn't finished yet, but this is what it looks like so far. I think they have plans to add teeth to the piranha plant.

Mike, Preston and I played Preston's pandemic game. We lost. We have gotten so close, but it is super hard to win! We are going to try again tomorrow.

Scary Roads and Iceskating

I woke up early to go to my exercise class. I set my alarm, but rarely am I still asleep when the alarm goes off. I was up really early today and headed to the gym much earlier than I was planning. That was a great idea, because there was a ton of snow outside! I drove in 4 wheel drive the entire way. I still slid turning from 114th to 13th. My gym class was hard. I am not in shape like I used to be. At least I finished, but it wasn't pretty. The jeep was buried in snow when I came out, I couldn't even see my footprints. I was hoping the roads would be okay on the way back. It was now around 8:30, surely the plows had been out. No such luck. I slid turning out of the gym onto 123rd. I slid on 13th. I slid on 106 and I slid the entire way up Pepperwood drive. I fishtailed back and forth. I screamed and screamed, "Help me!" It was so scary. Once I was back home I did not want to leave again. I'm annoyed at myself for not going to the dollar store yesterday. I want a few things for my primary class. Mainly cheep frames so I can give the girls Chelsea's picture. Anyways, once I arrived home I called Jorja a few times hoping to wake her up. She did not wake up. I had to run through deep snow in my exercise clothes to get to the front door. I was hoping Jorja would open the garage door for me.

Stockton's dive meet was cancelled. Stockton is in Idaho anyway. I thought it would be because of the snow, but it was another issue with the pool. I texted Stockton pictures. Even with these pictures it is hard to get an idea of how deep it actually was.

I kept hoping Jorja's ice skating activity would be canceled. I was not going to drive, but it worried me that she was out on the roads. She promised me over and over that she was not going to die. Still, I worried. Natalie's dad drove them. He had a car that looked like it could handle the weather. I told Jorja she should wear her boots to the rink. She didn't listen. I watched her run down the driveway in her Converse. The snow was to the middle of her shins. She slipped right before she got to the car. I laughed. Listen to your mom Porge. Jorja seemed to have fun. Here are a few pictures I managed to convince her to text me.

They asked this random guy to take their picture. I think it looks like Josh Elsmore, but my brothers disagree. It would have been hilarious if it was him. This is Mike's favorite thing to do, so I wanted to document that it was done to Jorja.

I spent the day cleaning bathrooms and being lazy. It was wonderful. When Jorja came home we watched shows. I wanted to show her Veronica Mars, but apparently you have to pay for that on Amazon. We watched Stranger Things, then I showed her an episode of Sherlock. Then more Stranger Things. I could not keep my eyes open one second longer. Jorja kept putting her face inches from mine to make sure I was still awake. It was fun to have Jorja to myself.

Nerdfest

While Maysen, Stockton and I were out running, we noticed the welcome sign said, "Welcome Nerdfest". I thought for sure Mike put that up. He was having a company party today. He didn't. I'm not sure if there was another nerdfest going on, if there was - talk about great timing.

Mike talked his work into having a party at our house. The party was just for his group, so there were about ten people, plus some kids. Nate and Jen brought over food last night. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Mike was very pleased.

The little guys had a great time swimming and riding cars, but the highlight was the trains! Mason didn't want to leave. He told his dad he wanted to stay here forever. (That is exactly what we are going for!)

Maysen and Jorja were suppose to have an ice skating performance today. I had planned on taking them, but I wasn't sure how I was going to fit everything in. I went and asked them if they would be disappointed if they didn't go. Both were fine not going. Maysen seemed relieved. I totally blew the performance off. I have never blown anything off before. I'm glad I did though, I think I would have been too stressed out to enjoy it anyway.

Stockton had diving practice tonight - that was the main reason I blew off ice skating. They let the divers dive on the board they will be competing on next week. There were three dive times and Stockton's coach sent an e-mail letting everyone know they were going to practice there on Saturday. That didn't work for us. Henry B. Eyring is speaking at Mike's family reunion. I didn't want to miss it - and I didn't want Stockton to miss it. I called Stockton's coach to let him know we wouldn't be there and asked if we could go tonight or if we needed to have a dive coach there. He called back and said that you needed a dive coach, but he called one of the other coaches who would look out for Stockton. I thought that was so nice.

When Stockton and I arrived, I found the dive coach and introduced Stockton to him. Not only did he let us dive with his team, he coached Stockton just like he would one of his own students. It was great. They also had a three meter diving board here. Stockton was excited about that. There were a ton of kids at the beginning. Stockton waited in line about 20 minutes. I thought I saw steam coming out of his ears. So, we came up with a new plan. I waited in line for the 1 meter while he dove off the 3 meter (which had a shorter line). This plan worked brilliantly. Stockton did the greatest one and a half off the three meter right before we left.

Jorja's First First Place

We got the results back from Jorja's swim meet on Monday. Jorja had her first individual first place! It was in the butterfly! She didn't get her name announced because another girl actually swam faster, but she was disqualified. Jorja improved on many of her times. Jorja's medley relay team came in 2nd out of 3. In freestyle she was 6 out of 12 with a time of 24.79! 3 seconds faster than her best time! Jorja was 2nd out of 6 in breast stroke. She swam it in 29.68 (5 seconds faster than her best time). The girl who came in first swam it in 29.62. Jorja missed first place by .06 seconds. Wow! Jorja finally got her first first place in the butterfly! She was first out of four. Her time was 30.92 - 3 seconds better than ever. Pretty impressive Porge. Her freestyle relay team also got 2nd out of 4.

Ice skating went a lot better today. I talked with their coach before the lesson. She was fine with Stockton free skating during the last part of practice. He looked so happy. I am glad they didn't try to force him to do the little dance thingy. He sure would have been miserable.

Bad Idea

Ice skating didn't go over well today. I guess when you sign up in July, you "get" to preform at the end of the month. Instead of free skate at the end, the class worked on a little performance. Stockton wasn't happy. I asked if he had to do the performance. The girl I asked said I could talk to his teacher and they wouldn't make him do it. Hopefully he can just skate around and do his own thing. I'm going to have the girls do it though because I think it would be quite awkward if all three of my kids were skating around while everyone else was trying to learn the dance.

Jorja had a swim meet tonight. She swam the backstroke in the relay, freestyle, breast, fly, and the freestyle relay. She did really well. They were announcing the names of the winners of each heat. Jorja's name was announced for the breast stroke! She and another girl touched about the same time. The announcer couldn't tell who was first. I think the other girl was, but it was really cool to hear her name!

Mike is working the late shift this week. He goes to work around one and works until six I think. He then works 8:30 until 12:30, but he gets to work at home. He also gets Friday off so that will be nice. Especially since ALISHA is coming over! I can't wait to see her, I am so excited!
