Kristi Bell!

My friend Kristi came over today!  Kristi and I were great friends in high school.  She actually grew up one street away from where I live now. Stockton and Maysen both have friends that live in her childhood home.  Kristi brought her four children over.  Boy are they TALL!  That is no surprise, both she and Chris are very tall.  We talked, watched the kids swim, and ate Jorja's snow cones.  It was great!

Kristi's second oldest is Stockton's age.  She is deaf.  She was lucky enough to get a computer in when she was little.  Her speech is great and not obvious that she hasn't been able to hear.  While swimming she has to take her computer out.  I kept forgetting and asking her questions.  Paige would say, "Kellie can't hear you."  I knew that!  How can I keep forgetting!  I guess that is good though.  Kristi was frustrated because she was hoping Paige could take ASL in high school as her foreign language.  The high school won't let anyone take ASL until their Junior year.  Paige wants to get two years of foreign language, but also leave her options open for concurrent enrollment.  Basically she would rather start her foreign language now.  Kristi went and talked to the school.  She told them that Paige's sister is deaf and Paige has a 1-4 chance of having a deaf child.  (They know several signs, but Kristi hasn't wanted to push anything deaf related on Kelli.  Kelli doesn't really enjoy signing.  That said, it would be a good idea for Paige to have an opportunity to get better with signing, especially since they have deaf cousins as well.)  Anyway, the school would not let Paige take ASL.  No exceptions.  That seems kind of ridiculous.  Public schools can be so frustrating.

Mike came home about twenty minutes after Kristi left.  Jorja and Preston had fun swimming with him.  They love it when he gives them submarine rides.  Preston also really wanted me to take his picture with his eyes open underwater.  It is really hard to see in the camera, so you never know what you are going to get.  He is cute though!

 Preston's eyes.  Yep.  I'm a good photographer

We went to Chick-Fil-A today with the kids.  We had a lesson before we left on the reason we were going there today.  The kids were great and I am so glad we took the time to explain to them why we were going there and what is going on in the country right now.  The lines were LONG! The kids didn't mind.  We waited in the drive thru while the kids watched a movie.  Talk about easy!  Plus, Chick-Fil-A chicken is delicious.
