Stockton's Seminary Graduation

Stockton had his math final today. At the beginning on the semester they were told they had to take the final during 3rd and 4th period, no exceptions. Stockton's math class is 6th period. His engineering classes are 3rd & 4th. He had an Engineering Certification test he was supposed to take at the same time. He will have to make that up tomorrow after school. Ugh. So close to being finished!

Maysen and I walked over to Brother Rich's house today. Brother Rich was the first counselor in the Draper Utah Temple presidency awhile ago. Bishop Waddoups likes to have people have temple prep lessons with him. How awesome is that? Brother Rich lives one street away. I walked with Maysen and then came home. She was there for about an hour.

Jorja had her ballroom swing test today. They were assigned partners and had to choreograph their own routine. The boy Jorja was partnered with didn't want to do that. He wanted to just wing it. That didn't end well. Jorja was worried about it, so she talked to her teacher to see if she could redo it after school with a different partner. Her teacher assured her she was fine. When the last group was going, Jorja asked if she could be a backup dancer. Her teacher said yes as long as she didn't get in the video. A boy named Zane said he wanted to dance with her. So, they made up their own dance to the Happy song. Madison recorded it. It was funny. I love Jorja. She always makes me laugh.

Jorja came home with the school newspaper. Exciting! Evan was also in it for being a Hawk Hero, but I forgot to take a picture of that. Evan is awesome. He's my favorite.
School paper
Jorja went and took her geography final again. She only got a 75%, which gives her an A- in the class. She isn't going to submit her final because then she will have to take the bus. She is planning on retaking this class in the summer. I think this time she will take it more seriously.

Jorja had a student government party. She wasn't sure if she wanted to go. She has a biology final and a math final tomorrow. In the end, she decided she would regret it if she didn't go for a little while. We were getting in the car and I asked for the address. It was at one of the kids' houses, so I assumed it would be close by. It was in Herriman! That is 30 minutes away! I dropped Jorja off and she was able to get Kenzie to give her a ride home. This is the only picture Jorja took there.

Stockton had seminary graduation tonight. I was hurrying to get home in time. I called Stockton and told him he would need to meet us at the stake center. We would be there, but there was no way we could get home until 6:00. Mike and I both got to our house at the same time. I saw him running up the walk right as I pulled in. Stockton called before we left. No one was there. It took awhile, but we found out the time was actually 7:00. Annoying because in the bulletin it was listed as 6:00. We had Stockton come home and Mike made him us hamburgers before we headed out again.
I like how they do seminary graduation by stakes now. When Mike and I graduated, it was the entire school. Which made it almost as big as high school graduation. We even had to have a seminary graduation practice. I remember they had one ward come up and show how you were supposed to grab the diploma with your left hand and shake with your right. They chose our ward to do that. I thought it was super funny because Phil Leatherwood was our bishop and he doesn't really have a right hand. So, the one group they had practice actually couldn't do it that way. Anyway, I forgot to take a picture, but luckily I caught Stockton in his church clothes a few days later.
Stockton
Stockton stayed up pretty late writing an essay for the Smith family scholarship that was due tonight. He also helped Jorja with her math. She is having a cumulative final tomorrow and is really worried. Mike helped Jorja a lot too. She feels pretty confident about her biology final. One more day. All the super hard stuff will be over in one more day. Sooooooo clooooooose.........

Good Hair Guy

I hurt my back awhile ago. I hurt it while I was exercising on the rowing machine. I didn't exercise for a week hoping it would heal. I went exercising yesterday and was in so much pain by the end of the class. I have hurt and hurt all day today. It is annoying because I always have lower back pain. I'm use to it. Now I have upper back pain as well and it is just too much! Anyway..... I took Maysen to the dermatologist this morning. We were at Walmart after and I saw this bin. I took a picture and sent it to Stockton. An entire bag of these things for $2.48. They tried to sell him one in Florida for $3. Glad he walked away from that purchase.
Maysen and I went to Little Caesars and bought three pizzas. We took them to Preston's school for a party they were having. We ended up taking Preston home with us. He was quite happy about that.

Jorja had to stay after school for woodworking. She texted us to get her, but then texted to come in 10 minutes because she was talking to 'good hair guy'. We came anyway because it would take longer than that to get to the school. When we arrived she asked if she could stay until 'good hair guys' parents picked him up. I texted back 'geography'. She still wanted to wait. My next text said, "We could get you later, but there would be a super high chance you will be taking the bus in the fall. Your choice." Immediately I get a text saying, "I have to take the bus if I get an a- in geography? But geography doesn't count!!!" My next texts were "Yep. If you lose your 4.0 you are taking the bus." "YES IT DOES!!!" "It is graded and will affect your gpa." She came quite quickly then. How does she not realize this???

Jorja is allowed to take one sheet of paper with notes into her class. She wasn't sure if that was the case and didn't want to be accused of cheating yesterday. She spent today working on notes. She also has a Chinese final presentation tomorrow, and finals in biology and math on Friday. She is so stressed. Too bad Isaac called her. He always calls at the worst times. It was not a good conversation. Afterwords she almost had a panic attack. I snapped at her. I was mad. The doctor told me not to baby her when she starts to spiral like that. It wasn't nice of me, but she was able to get her breathing under control. I can not wait for summer!

Empty Schedule

Jorja and Preston had a dentist appointment this morning. This will be their last appointment together, perhaps forever. I try to schedule Jorja on Tuesdays because of late start. Next year Preston will be in middle school and late start will be on Friday. No cavities for both of them. Jorja doesn't need her wisdom teeth out yet. All is well.

I went inside when I checked Preston into school. I had to take a picture of this poster. Mrs. Mickelsen. We LOVE her! Preston's 4th grade teacher. She is awesome. Mrs. Chung, Preston's Chinese 4th grade teacher, was Teacher of the Year last year. He had a great 4th grade year. He liked this year too, but he is SOOOOO ready to be done with elementary school.
Some of the schedules for next year started to be released. Jorja texted me and asked if I could find out her schedule. This is what was up for Jorja. Haha.
Her schedule was posted by the end of the day. One of her classes had to be dropped because of student government. What class was dropped? MATH. Hahahahaha! We can start messing with their schedules on Friday. Guess I'll be doing that.

Jorja had her second day of training at Chick-Fil-A. She was trained on cleaning. Most of the time she was cleaning tables, except it was very slow. Not many people were there today, which didn't giver her many tables to clean. I picked her up after work and drove her to the district testing center. She needed to take her final for Geography. That is her online class. Over the weekend she realized that if she doesn't finish the class by May 31, all of her work will be deleted and she will need to start over. Jorja ended up scoring a 70 on the test. That would give her a B+. She can take the test twice a day, so we will need to come back again. Another thing Jorja didn't understand. She thought all she needed to get was the bare minimum and she would get a P. She didn't realize it was a letter grade. I have no idea why she thought that. Maybe because that was how PE was when she tested out of it. She was not happy to find out this information.

First Day at Chick-Fil-A

I tried Uber for the first time today. Stockton and I needed to get to the airport. I was worried the driver wouldn't show up. The guy at the desk assured me that wouldn't happen. He also told me to do the ride share Uber economy choice. I made Stockton get up extra early because I was still worried. We got up at 4:15, after three hours of sleep. I ordered the Uber and was surprised that we needed to walk a few blocks to be picked up. Stockton and I headed out with our suitcases in the dark. As we were waiting to cross a busy road a lady stopped and asked if we needed help. I told her we ordered an Uber and needed to cross the street because he was going to be there in one minute. Once we crossed the street I got an alert on my phone that my Uber had been cancelled. What? This is what I was worried about and what the concierge assured me wouldn't happen. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if we would be sent walking a few more blocks away if I ordered again. While I was trying to figure it out, the same lady that talked to us before pulled up. She asked if our driver cancelled. She said she saw a car turn and was worried we would be stranded. She was also an Uber driver. When we told her we were going to the airport, she said that if we ordered an Uber X she would take us there. That was about twice the price, but at this point I just wanted to get to the airport. It was about $50. I was trying to figure out the app when she said, or if you have $20 cash I'll take you right now. Thank heavens I had the cash! As we were driving she asked me to go in my settings to see if I was charged a cancellation fee. I was. $6. Unbelievable! The driver cancelled the ride and said it was our fault. She helped me figure out how to contest the price. Uber gave me a $6 credit. Really? Like I am going to be trying this again any time soon! Anyway, Stockton and I made it home without any more incidents. Yay! It's so good to be home.

Meanwhile. Mike started taking care of the tree that fell down. This is what it looks like now.
Jorja needed special shoes for her Chick-Fil-A job. We took the kids to Payless. Jorja got job shoes. Preston got church shoes and Stockton got tennis shoes. All were needed. Jorja had her first day at Chick-Fil-A today. It was a training day. She was trained on the registers. She said it is quite confusing. She is still pretty excited though.

Matt and Sam wanted to borrow quilting frames to make a quilt for their new baby girl. Her name is going to be Amy Kay. Anne convinced Jorja to dress up like a superhero with them while she was there. Adorable.

Random Beach

We went with Brett and his family to 11:00 church. My family has 9:00 church this year. We were at church at the same time. Mike sent this picture.
Jorja, Preston, Maysen
Brett and Rachel checked out of their hotel room before church, so afterwords we hung out in our room. We played games and MadLibs. Boy did Marie and Mina love the MadLibs. The sun came out for a bit, so we decided to go see the ocean. Stockton was at the ocean for a bit yesterday, but I had not been there yet. I don't know what the name of this beach is, but it was so nice for the girls to get out of the hotel and run for a bit!

Brett and Rachel dropped Stockton and I off at the hotel and headed home. They figured it would be easier not to get the girls out of the car. I agreed!

The only problem was . . . Rachel came and picked up the box she had brought up to our room. Unbeknownst to her, Brett had put his church clothes in our closet. We found them about the time they were arriving home . . . three hours away.

Rachel thought she had packed Brett's church clothes. This is what she packed instead.
Hahahahaha! I laughed so hard when I saw that picture! One more picture to end the day with. Mike sent me a picture of Jorja finishing up some homework. She looks cozy.
Jorja
Dani, Noelle and Gavin came and hung out in our room. I worked on my blog until midnight. It took forever to upload the videos from the hotel. Gavin left about midnight. I think Dani and Noelle left at one in the morning. Stockton and I are getting up at 4:15. We will be T-I-R-E-D tomorrow!

Nationals

I sent Stockton to the pool with Gavin. They had to be at warmups around 7:00. His event didn't start until 10:00. Brett brought me over to watch him. Rachel and the girls came too. It was a little drizzly when we got there. We found a spot near the 1 meter board. The National anthem played as soon after we arrived. The second the National anthem ended it started pouring. Hard! Now that the competition is over, I think Stockton likes the memory of diving in the rain. Especially on one meter, it was warm rain. Probably it is a good memory because Stockton did great today.

We split up for lunch. Brett and Rachel took Stockton and I to Chick-Fil-A. Stockton and I walked to Publix while the girls played on the playground. It's funny how excited we get to go to this grocery store. We took pictures to send to the kids at home.

Stockton and Gavin went back to the pool after lunch. Brett dropped me off there just in time for his event. They then went to a children's museum down in Miami. That was a good choice because it rained hard during this event! I tried to film his dives, but I got soaked! Especially when I stood up from under the tent right as a giant puddle of water fell off the tent and landed on me. Stockton said the rain was cold this time. It rained pretty hard, but it was kind of fun.

Stockton went back with Gavin and his friends to have pizza and do the rip contest. I did not want to go to that. I went with Brett and got pizza as well. Except we were dry when we ate.
