Gavin's in Town

Jorja worked most of the day. Stockton met up with Gavin and his diving friends. Gavin is in town from the Air Force. First time Stockton has been able to hang out with Gavin here. They went to breakfast at Chick-Fil-A and were able to eat with Jorja when she was on break. Today is the first day the dining room has been open since covid shut down the world. I ran to the store to get Stockton a swim shirt. I ended up next to Chick-Fil-A and went in to say hi while everyone was there.

Stockton and his friends went swimming at the Pepperwood pool. Their boards are so much better than they used to be. Actually the entire place is beautiful! They have redone it in the last couple of years. It is so nice. They even have a splash pad now! I probably would have come here more when Preston was little if they had that! The mountains are striking as always. I drove up with Stockton to let his friends in. Each resident can let three people in, so between Stockton and I we were able to get all of his friends in. I stayed for a bit to watch Stockton dive. First time he has done that since his mission. I loved it! Although Stockton's first inward was so close to the board it freaked me out. Haha

Steve and Shannon and their family came over today. It's Steve's birthday. We just played in the pool. It was fun and relaxing. Jorja left early to go see a play her friends were in. Mama Mia. That's about all for today!

The Jazz won game 4 tonight. One more game and they move on! Woohoo! Jorja and Riley came over after Mama Mia. We had a chat with them. We wanted to talk with them before they go on their two graduation trips. I feel much better about them going now, but I will be glad when those are over.

Graves

Shannon asked if we would want to meet at the graveyard for flowers and such. Their kids came over for a couple of minutes. It was the first time Brandon and Stockton had seen each other since their missions. That was cool. We visited my mom, Mike's mom, Mike's grandparents and Jessie. I got a picture of everyone but Jessie for some reason. Jorja was only able to see my mom and Mike's mom. She had to leave to go to a mission prep thing. I ended up going in my jammies. I didn't think that many people would be there. Whoops.

Mike's grandparents
The Hirschi grave is the hardest to find, so I took a picture of the tree. Maybe it will help me remember.

Lost and Found

Stockton has been missing his wallet for a few weeks now. It had the $100 he earned from my dad for memorizing the restoration proclamation. It also had a few $100 gift cards. We were talking about it again today and Stockton had us look under the couch downstairs. It wasn't there. I said that the last place I remember him taking it was to Colorado. Stockton looked over and there was this small bag nestled by the tv. He walked over to it and pulled his wallet out of the side pocket. Hahaha! Glad he found it!
Jorja worked most of the day. She got this text while she was there. The lacrosse team won the state championship. This is the first state championship since lacrosse became a sanctioned sport. That's pretty cool.

Bode & Aiden
Jorja finally got to go to the lantern festival. Glad it worked out for her. She went with a bunch of her friends, but I only have pictures of her and Riley. She did manage to lose her black vans jacket that she loves. She also lost her Chick-Fil-A jacket about a month ago. She is on quite the roll.

Into Chinese

Woohoo! We got Jorja into the Chinese class she needed! And Luke had Jorja's graduation announcements at his house, so Jorja will be able to get those back. Today was pretty low-key. No one wanted to do to much with our sore arms. Stockton went up to Dani's house to hang out, but that's about it.

1st Dose

I was so tired today. I don't know if it was staying up until 3 am or the corona shot. Overstock was giving the vaccine and Mike really wanted to get it. I was worried and on the fence, but so far so good. We got the shot and the most uncomfortable symptom was our arms hurt. Hopefully the second shot goes as well. Mike had an even earlier morning. He had an eye doctor appointment this morning. His eyes are horrible. One eye is super bad and one isn't great. The contacts he wears now hurts after a few hours and then he has trouble seeing for a few days. They are going to try different contacts for him. Really nothing they can do for him except a cornea transplant. Scary. He meets with two different doctors. The contact guy said it would be worth trying glasses. The eye surgeon guy said he would throw up if he tried to wear them. It's frustrating for Mike because he used to do a lot of projects, but now can't see enough to do them. Mike met us at Overstock after his appointment. We brought Preston, but he wasn't old enough to get the shot.

We splurged and got Pizza Hut pizza. Haha. Usually we stick with Little Caesars. Jorja was at work most of the day today. She had fun with her friends and they went to breakfast around noon. Jorja also found out she will be in charge of Hillcrest High School at the Utah State Leadership Camp. Too bad Alta isn't there at the same time. She would have been able to work with them. She would have loved that! I also noticed Sam has a new book out. I'll have to go and pick it up. Sam said she would get a collection for the cabin. Sweet!

Jorja's High School Graduation

Jorja has now graduated high school. I'm going to miss this time of her life. I do wish she had wanted to spend more time with us though. Jorja did so well in high school. I'm so proud of her. She took chances, made mistakes and got messy. Hahaha. But really, I can not believe how far she stretched herself. She spent years and years quiet and shy, then she turned it around in a blink of an eye. It was hard and painful, but she clawed her way out of her shell and I don't think she is ever going back. Four years in student government. That was brave. Highschool was scary and one of her very best friends would tell her not to run, she would only embarrass herself and he would be the only one to vote for her. Glad she didn't listen. She tried out and was in different theater plays her freshman year. She was so sick most of her sophomore year, but still made life long friends and nailed her main responsibility as president, the morp dance. Jorja went to Taiwan and lived as a foreign exchange student for three weeks. She absolutely loved that experience. She was surprised how she was able to read everything and understand everything, but said she had a white girl accent. Haha. Covid shut down her junior year and wreaked havoc on her senior year. That was hard and sad, but she still reached her goal of being a student body officer and did a fantastic job on the fundraiser. At inauguration when Mr. Packer was talking about Jorja he said he didn't think anyone else would have been able to pull the fundraiser off. I agree with him. Watching her work behind the scenes.... she worked so hard and gave everything she had. She sure is leaving high school with no regrets. Maysen and Stockton were dressing Jorja as she got out of the car. She had a hawk medallion, a step2theU medallion, a NHS yellow thing, and five cords. Blue& white ~ blip-literacy, green ~ world language, purple ~ English, red~ high honor, yellow and white ~ I think for a high gpa? Not sure. Anyway, Jorja is amazing.

Each graduate was given four tickets. That meant Preston had to stay home and no grandparents. We arrived early so Jorja could get some pictures with her friends. We took some family pictures outside the institute building before we went in.

The grandparents were able to watch graduation on a zoom link. I'm glad they had that. Cori took some screenshots from the program. I don't know who is giving Jorja her diploma though. Also, one side note, they announced the student body officers and the lacrosse team first. Bode is on the lacrosse team. As soon as their names were read they had to leave to go to their playoff lacrosse game. They ended up winning that game and eventually won the state championship.

We swung by our house. Jorja changed real quick and we picked up Preston. We met Scoop, Cori and my dad at Leatherbys. I'm glad we were still able to do that tradition even if they couldn't come to the graduation. I didn't get a picture of Jorja with Scoop and Cori, but they were there.
Jorja & Grandpa Millburn
When we got home I called Utah State to find out what needed to be done for Jorja to be able to take the Chinese class she needs. They had me fill out a form online asking for permission to take the class. Hopefully it won't be filled up by the time this gets done. Jorja slept for awhile and then went to hang out with her friends at Luke's house. She took her graduation announcements to hand out there, then promptly lost them. Oh Porge.

Tonight was the Pepperwood party. Mike and I chaperoned from 12-2. This year wasn't too bad, we just walked around the wooded area. No one even came near us. Jorja and a few girls slept over in the motorhome so they wouldn't have to drive home too late. It was a long day.
