First thing this morning we went and signed up for a carriage ride. I was a little worried about how Mike would handle it. He did great at the beginning, but was miserable by the time it was over. Poor guy loves horses and didn't want to miss out on anything.

When the ride was over, Mike went and took a quick shower while we took a quick oxen ride.

The missionary asked the ox a question and had him answer by holding onto his horn and nodding his head. Preston thought that was hilarious.
My dad, the three older kids and I were able to go in the Nauvoo Temple to do baptisms. Mike stayed with Preston. A member of the temple presidency talked to the kids before they entered the font. The font was pretty big! The kids entered one side and I was at the other side to hand them a towel when they exited. My dad had brought family file cards. Stockton was really struggling not to crack up. The first person he was baptized for was Doc. The second Barney. Both Maysen and Stockton were baptized for someone with the name Bacon. It was really cute watching Stockton try to keep a straight face.

Mike picked us up and took us back to the RV park. We went and ate lunch at Peter's Place. Preston ordered corn bites. That was fried kernels of corn. It was actually really good, but Preston didn't like it. We headed to the family living center after lunch. There the kids got to learn how to make barrels, rope, rugs, candles . . . all sorts of things.

Preston was given the rope that was made. He was thrilled!

The kids favorite stop was playing pioneer games at the park. We spent the longest time here. It was great!

The stick and ring games was my favorite. My dad was so good at it! It took us a bit, but we figured it out.

We went to the Lands and Records office to find out where our ancestors lived. I accidentally left Preston's rope here. We went back and found it, much to Preston's relief.

We visited Heber C. Kimball's house, then Sarah Granger Kimball. Brigham Young made this chair. So cool!

There is this cool plate at the Scovil Bakery. Lucius Scovil had these plates commissioned. They also had a replica that we could look at closer. My dad said, "My grandma used to have a plate like that, until I broke it." Whoops! I wonder if it was a replica or an original?
Preston really wanted to get a look at this bee box. The kids would follow bees and see what flowers they were pollinating. Then they would pick a flower and wait for a bee to come in it. They would trap the bee inside and bring the box back to their mother. She would put it on another box, open it so the bee would fall into the flour that was waiting there. They would turn the box around a few times to make sure the bee was coated in flour. The kids would take the bee outside and let it go. They would then follow the bee, which would be flying low and slow. The bee would make its way back to its hive. The family could then mark the tree as their tree. They would build a fire underneath to smoke the bees and scare them so they would gather around the queen bee. Then the mother could reach up into the hive and take some honeycomb. I sure like just being able to buy honey at the store.

My dad took us to the field where the King Follett sermon was given. This was also the field where Brigham Young addressed the Saints after Joseph died and many people witnessed that he looked and sounded like Joseph.

We watched Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo. A musical put on by the senior missionary couples. Some of the missionaries enjoyed performing more than others. As we left, both Maysen and Stockton were smiling. Stockton said, "Wow." Maysen said, "I have no words."
Walking back to the motorhome after the show
We drove back to our camp site and then went on a walk to find John Lovell's old property. When I was here with my dad a few years ago there was a run down shack that said something like, "Horse rides to Carthage". That wasn't here anymore. Now it is just a corn field.

A cat followed us on our walk. The kids wanted to take it home. Nope. I don't think so. (By kids, I don't mean Stockton. He would never want an animal to come home with us.)
