We had to change our plans a bit in order to get to my grandpa's funeral. We drove for several hours (through too many toll booths) and arrived at Nauvoo around 4:30. We headed off to the visitor center, only to find out it closed at 5:00. It was just past five by the time we got there. We decided to explore the outdoor areas of Nauvoo. We first stopped by Joseph, Hyrum and other family member's graves.

There is a gazebo down by the Mississippi River that has the names of all the pioneers who died on the trail. At least the pioneers they are aware of. We found a few relatives.

Lovells
Some familiar names

Jorja has a friend whose last name is Memmott. I wonder if she is related to the Memmotts listed here?
We walked up Parley Street and read the Trail of Hope plaques.

This is a statue of Joseph and Hyrum riding to Carthage. Joseph knows he isn't coming back. Here they pause and look at the temple and the city.

We stayed at Peter's Place RV park. It isn't much, but I was excited about it because it is practically next door to John Lovell's property. I remember seeing the building when I was here with my dad. I did laundry in this creepy building. It had one tiny light in the front and nothing in the back where the dryers were. I was so glad when I was finally finished! Mike played catch with Jorja. She had a lot of fun with that.
