Surprise Miah Sighting

Mike's pond progress! Looking good!
The kids woke up around 11:00. Jorja took them home and then she went to breakfast with Bode. I took Preston to the oral surgeon. Turns out that he has to have the tooth removed from the top. Not a pleasant experience, although Blake has already had it done. So has my dad. I guess my dad is to blame for this extra tooth. They are also going to take three of Preston's wisdom teeth out. Might as well get it done while he is already unconscious. They can't find a fourth one. Hopefully he doesn't have one. If he does, then he will have to have it removed later. While we were waiting in the back of the oral surgeon's, I thought I saw Sherry go into a room. That was random. I wasn't sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me, so I had my eyes glued to that room. A few moments later I saw Miah walk in! Miah! She was getting her wisdom teeth out today. We were the only patients in that entire office. What are the chances?

Stockton called as I was leaving to Preston's appointment. I talked to him the entire way there. That was nice. Although he had some crazy news. His mission president has now gone home. He has corona. He started showing symptoms on Monday and was diagnosed Wednesday and sent home today. Stockton was with him Friday. So, that's lovely. I hope he is okay and I hope no one else gets sick. Especially Stockton.

Jorja had a student government barbecue to close out their camp. She had a lot of fun there. I'm glad they were able to have some kind of camp, but it was not even close to the level of fun and excitement as they have at Utah State. Too bad these kids missed out on that experience.

Extra Tooth

Preston had a dentist appointment today. He wasn't too happy with what he found out. He has an extra tooth that is growing above his front teeth and now needs to see an oral surgeon. Preston was really upset on the way home, so we drowned his sorrows at Waffle Love.

Jorja had student government camp today. Usually it is at Utah State with lots of other schools. Jorja went her sophomore year and loved, loved, loved it. She didn't go last year because she was in Taiwan. She was devastated when she found out she would miss it again. I'm glad they had something, but it didn't hold a candle to what they missed. Jorja finished the masks she made for the student body officers this morning. Talk about cutting it close! She made ten masks. Nine officers and Packer. She was hoping to get a picture, but that never happened. Still, she was glad she did it.

We were asked to bring our blow up movie screen so the kids for the kids. Packer wanted to show Tim Timmerman. I was talking to Stockton while we were setting up. I took this picture to show him what the field house looked like. This is a new addition since Stockton has graduated. Too bad I didn't take any pictures of the movie screen or the kids watching...
We set up the screen here at first, but it did not work. There are too many skylights and it was way too light. Nothing could be seen. Packer had us bring the screen upstairs. It was a little more cramped, but at least you could now see the movie! Mike and I set it up, set an alarm to come back and went home. When we came back the movie was still going, but we could hear cheering. Glad they liked it. Glad we were able to find the movie Packer wanted to show. Mike and I came home while Jorja went and hung out with some of the people at the volleyball courts. That was good because she was a little sad after camp. Riley is there and they didn't say a word to each other. It's hard because this has been Jorja's safe place and where she feels like she belongs. She's not used to feeling awkward in student government. I'm glad she got to play volleyball after and was able to cheer up. Hopefully it will get better.

End of Quarter Torture

Maysen had graduation rehearsal today.  One more day of high school for her.  After rehearsal was yearbook signing.  I happened to look at Skyward to check on the kids grades.  The end of the quarter is always awful.  This quarter is no exception.  Let me back up.  We were getting messages from Stockton's French teacher that the last day to accept passports was Friday, May 20th.  Stockton had an A in French Friday morning.  On Saturday he had a B+.  I couldn't believe it.  I was just sick.  I didn't know what to have him do.  I wrote to his teacher to ask if he could turn in a passport on Monday since school ended up being cancelled on Friday.  I was so worried.  I decided to fast about it.  Yes, I know that this isn't a big deal, but it is to me.  Until his 4.0 is gone I am going to fight and claw with him to keep it.  Well, Sunday I said my ending of fast prayer.  I had my phone next to me and before I even stood up I checked my email.  That was weird, because I don't check my email from my phone that often.  I have no idea what I was thinking. Anyway, the first thing I saw was an email from his French teacher saying he scored a double I4 on the APPL test so he was getting an automatic A.  I couldn't believe it!  I was so happy!  Well, today I again randomly checked the kids grades.  When I clicked on Stockton I fully expected to see all As.  Wrong!  He had an A- in AP World History and a B+ in Robotics.  I wasn't worried about World History because I knew it would end as an A, but Robotics?  Really?  His last project he got 60/100 on.  This was done last week.  Stockton told me everything was working until it was time to present.  Then the motor broke.  He and his partner spent the rest of class frantically trying to fix it.  They came in during lunch and then stayed after school.  I couldn't believe this was what was going to ruin his 4.0.  He manages to pull As in calculus as a 10th grader, but this is the class that trips him up?  I was just sick to my stomach.  I prayed all day about this.  I asked for a miracle.  I know this is a stupid miracle.  I didn't care.  I was thinking, this doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.  It's not like I'm asking for my mom to stay alive.  This miracle isn't going to matter to anyone or drastically change any giant plan.  I didn't know how his grade would be saved, but until there were no options left I was going to hope for the best.  Oh man did it make my stomach hurt though!  I texted Stockton and let him know. I asked him if he could go talk to his teacher and see if there was anything he could do.  Stockton went and asked his robotics teacher if he would sign his yearbook.  He did.  Then the teacher asked Stockton if he was going to take his class next year.  He is.  He asked him how he liked the class this year.  Stockton said he liked it but was wondering if he could check his grade.  His teacher pulled it up and then told Stockton he would raise it to an A- if he came in and cleaned at 8:00 on Friday.  Stockton then asked him about a grade that was never put in. (Stockton submitted an assignment three times, but somehow it never got taken care of.)  The teacher put that grade in and it moved his grade up to an A-.  His teacher said now if he came in and cleaned on Friday he would give him an A.  Hallelujah!  I hate the end of the quarters!

In other news, Mike got a root canal today.  Have I mentioned I hate his teeth?  I sure hope this ends his problems.

Regionals

I woke up Stockton a little before 5:00 this morning.  Last night I noticed a text that said he had a mandatory warm-up at 6am.  We were hoping to skip the warmup.  They are important when you have never dived on the boards, but Stockton has.  I woke up Stockton last night and told him about it.  Stockton told me he woke up a little before I got him and wondered if it was a dream.  He hoped it was a dream.  Then he went back to sleep only to find out he really had to be there. Warmups went well, so it turned out fine.  There were not that many people there.  I helped cut bagels and fruit for the coaches.  I was downstairs.  It is pretty cool because they have these windows that you can see the divers entering the pool.  I wish I knew when Stockton was about to go so I could watch, but you have no idea who it is until they are under water.  It was fun though.
Stockton
This was the only picture I got from today.  Stockton had his 1-meter event.  He wasn't too happy with his performance, but he didn't get last.  That is great with the divers he was up against!  He is so glad it is over.  So am I.

Mike and I were scheduled to do the paper scoring.  When we got there they told us only one of us could do it.  I think they had someone say they signed up to volunteer, so even though the positions were filled they booted one of us.  They said it would be better because we had a diver in the competition.  We laughed.  We did not want Stockton to make it to Area.  We have a family trip planned and that would through a giant wrench into our summer!  It was good that Mike didn't have to score.  His teeth started acting up.  He was in so much pain.  I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate his teeth.  It is sad to see him hurting so bad, and I am worried about the future.  He lives on advil.  I hope he isn't doing long term damage.

Stockton wanted to go to Pizza Pie Cafe after the competition.  It was pretty crowded.  There were a lot of people dressed up for their prom there.  Christopher and Lizzie were both going to prom tonight.  I think Stockton was just glad to be home!
