Shower and Slides

I worked this morning. Ms. Wu was able to help me get access to all the AP scores. She was Preston's 3rd grade Chinese teacher and now she works for the Utah DLI program. They wanted to know the scores awhile ago and I didn't have them. Friday she asked if I wanted her help in getting them. I told her I did. She was able to have someone high up email the College Board about how Alta needed their Chinese scores. Magically on Monday they were released. Anyway, there was an email from someone at College Board giving me the access code. Yay! Now we can move the kids into the classes they need to be in. What is absolutely crazy is there are 18 students in Preston's class. Only 3 of them passed the test. 50% of them got 1s. WHAT? I know they had major computer problems during the test, which is why our scores were so late; I wonder if the computer problems affected the results. That is a crazy low passing number. In other news, I got these Alta slides today. I picked the brown ones.

Becky Johnson threw Alyssa a bridal shower today. I forgot to take pictures though. It was really nice and I'm glad she did it. Alyssa and her mom came down. Maysen and I went. Too bad Jorja couldn't go. She is contagious until she is without a fever for 24 hours. Jorja got Alyssa a cute little travel jewelry box that says Mrs. Smith. Maysen got Alyssa several geometry towel. I love those. I got Alyssa the bedding she had picked out on Amazon. I wish I had gotten them the dishes they picked out though. I did the bedding because that is what my mom got me, but I kind of wish I had done the other. Oh well.

Jorja is starting to feel better today. She went outside and ate ice cream with Bear. That was pretty much all she had energy for, but it is nice to see her smile again.

One Cent

So.... Jorja is not feeling better. She threw up a lot this morning and she is very dizzy. I was supposed to have a zoom meeting with Shannon Kershaw about 504s. She had my job last year and now lives in Denver. I had been looking forward to this meeting, but it ended up being at the same time as the only time I can get Jorja in to see the doctor. We rescheduled to Thursday after my AP zoom training meeting. It will be a day of zooms for me! The doctor had Jorja take tests in our car before we could come into our office. They gave her a covid test, a strep test and a flu test. Covid and strep came back negative. Unfortunately flu came back positive. Jorja has the flu and has been SICK! She says it has been worse than when she had covid last year. Today was the day Jorja was supposed to start her mission. She would have been miserable. Hopefully her body will start functioning properly soon!

The AP Chinese scores for Alta were finally released. Preston got a 2. I was really surprised. He felt like he did a great job on the test. He usually says he did horrible, but this time he said it was easy. Today he told me that he thought everything was really easy except for the culture presentation part. He wasn't able to review it like the rest of the class because of the BYU presentation he was forced to do. (We definitely tried to get him out of that.) While these kids were working on this, the other kids were given six paragraphs to memorize that could help with the cultural presentation part. Preston ended up only getting one. Two days before the test he was given the others, but by that time he couldn't do it. Too much too fast. Anyway, that is disappointing. Preston did get a 4 on his computer science AP test. Preston definitely likes computer science more than Chinese. Hahah. Mike took Preston out for hamburgers and Brooker's Ice Cream. Preston drove. Mike sent me this picture of Preston's awesome parking job.

Stockton is starting his last week of FSY. He really likes this group of boys he has and thinks it will be the perfect group to end on. I hope he loves it! Stockton and Alyssa's wedding invitations are out. Alyssa's Venmo is on the invitation. Stockton told me that Ethan Scott venmo-ed them one cent. Hahahah

In Progress

Today started off great. I went to Alta early to help with their summer school. It is chaotic at the beginning, but once everyone is settled it isn't so bad. I left after the rush and took Preston to the dentist. It was nice to see Eric and things are looking great with Preston's teeth. I dropped Preston off at home and went back to work. I had a great day until Paula asked me to call HR and ask when my official starting date for my job would be. Paula wanted to know how long she could use me. When I called I found out they were reposting the job, even though it was already offered to me. They listed it as a licensed position and already interviewed at least three people. I am not a licensed counselor, so now they have to resist the position and I have to apply again. I'm not sure if I have to interview again or if they will be required to interview at least three people. So, I'm a little bummed about that. Hopefully if they change their mind I can get my job with Paula back. We shall see.

AP tests came out last week while Preston was at FSY. I had him look up his scores. He had already looked them up, but I guess that was information he didn't see as important. Preston got a 4 on his computer science test and the Chinese test says 'in progress'. Turns out the entire class is still waiting for their scores that were suppose to be released next week. There was a problem with the computers on the test and so many people had problems that Shannon filed an incident report for the entire class. I think that is why this is taking so long. The stressful thing is if the kids pass the test, they get moved to a different class. It is a college concurrent enrollment class. Working with the registrar and not knowing where to put an entire class is not ideal. At all. Hopefully the scores get released soon and hopefully Preston passes.

AP Chinese

Preston had his AP Chinese test today. It is finally done! Woohoo! Preston said the test was easy. He has NEVER said that about Chinese before. Hopefully that means he passed the test. We have to wait until July to find out though. I proctored the AP biology test this afternoon. That went really smoothly. I wanted Preston to choose what to have for dinner. If he wanted to go somewhere to celebrate the end of AP tests. He wanted Little Caesars. The kids got a kick of the one olive on the pizza. Haha

Also, yesterday Stockton got his FSY assignments. He will be spending three weeks in Denton, Texas, a week in Provo, a week off, then three weeks in Ephraim, Utah. Sounds like a fun summer!

AP Computer Science

I proctored the AP Calculus test today. It went a little long. Preston took the AP computer science test today. His test was in the same room as the calculus test. Preston's class was supposed to be there by 11:45. I stuck my head out and saw his teacher waiting. I told him that the calculus test wouldn't finish until 1:15. That was not what he wanted to hear, but it worked out well. His classroom is right next door to where the test was taking place. He brought all of the kids into his classroom. At least they didn't have to wait in the hall. Preston said the test went well. Yay! One down, one to go for him.

Stockton was supposed to start his summer physics class today. He logged on ready to go only to find out that his physics class is a 7 week class and it is the 2nd 7 weeks. He can't start until the end of June. Not what we wanted to hear. Stockton has a lot of time now and had planned to spend it working on that class. Now he will have to do physics while he is doing FSY and getting married. Not ideal.

When I came back from school I noticed this note on the dryer. Stockton had left it there on Mother's Day for me to find. Haha. Stockton started laughing when I showed it to him. He is so sweet. I loved the note. What a great kid.

Start of AP

 I have signed up to proctor nine AP tests. That was the limit we could sign up for. I was able to get the supervisor slot on all nine of them. That means I will get $100/test. I am going to buy a blender. One that will blend frozen fruit. That is my plan. Anyway, my first test was today. AP US Government & Politics. I had four students because the test had accommodations. It went very well. For me. I'm not sure how the kids did.

I was able to get Jorja and Stockton into the same dorm in the LLC. Jorja had originally been in Richards Hall because the LLC was full. She wasn't too excited about that. I knew that one floor in one of the buildings was a 'student involvement' floor. I thought Jorja would love that. I randomly checked and there was one opening on that floor. I didn't even ask, I moved her over. Then I was talking to Stockton and I moved him over. Their dorms are right next to each other in the same building. How fun is that? I'm so excited about it! I hope they have the best time!

Preston had to take a math test today. Usually the math tests are at the end of the unit, but this one was in the middle. I was doing the AP test, so I couldn't take him down there. Good thing he just did this last week so it was fresh in his mind what he needed to do. Mike dropped him off and Jorja picked him up. She took him to Firehouse Subs. He loved it.

Mike and the boys went to the cabin today. Mike has been anxious to get up there and do some projects. He wants to get the tracks off the 4-wheelers and other such things. He was planning on leaving yesterday until we found out about Preston's test. I'm glad it ended up working out. They will be there until Friday.

Jorja had her first student government activity with the new officers. The results for the election were posted yesterday. There are two girls in each category this year. Two girl sbos, two girl senior class officers, two girl senators, two girl junior class officers and two girl sophomore class officers. Weird. Jorja is excited to not be the only girl anymore. She told me today that it is weird that she is the only senior girl that has been in student government before. Six senior girls, thirteen boys. Wish it was a bit more even. Anyway, she went down there for an hour this morning to work on putting together signs for the seniors. She had to hurry back because her AP English text was today. It's weird having them take their AP tests at home. Instead of a three hour test, it is a 45 minute free response test. We kicked everyone out of the computer room so Jorja would have no distractions. I'm glad I let her drop AP US History at the beginning of the year. This year is so weird. After the test Jorja and I helped Preston learn a dance for Chinese. Jorja filmed Preston and I dancing. Sending that video in was a difference between an A and a B in Chinese. Crazy that it was worth so much. After the dancing Jorja went out with Layla for yogurt. Layla is the other girl sbo. They wanted to talk about initiation. Jorja told me this morning that she texted Aysha and told her she didn't want to kiss anyone. She said that even though Riley said it wouldn't bother him, she didn't want to risk it. She didn't want another Conner/Traven situation. She has felt guilty about kissing Traven for so long. She met up with Layla and said they had a great time. Layla didn't want to kiss any of them either, even though she is kind of dating one of them. She didn't want to kiss Marshall in front of anyone. So, at least they are agreed on that. They are both looking forward to tonight. Should be super fun.

Switching gears... my mom died 24 years ago today. I posted this picture with this caption: Best person in the world died 24 years ago today. This was our last family picture. My brother Brett was leaving on a mission. My mom knew she would die while he was gone, but sent him anyway. Her faith was unmatched. Oh how I miss her.

Mike commented that Matt was wearing a 6T jacket. Haha. My cousin Jeff mentioned something like he was having a tender moment remembering mom when Mike made him laugh. After I said, "See what I have to put up with?" Mike said, "At least I didn't mention how you are wearing a size 2X!" Hahahaha. I love my family. When Jorja was helping me go through some filing cabinets she found some twenty question things. I sent this to my brothers today. This is what my mom answered when I was 17 I think.

I brought my blanket and puzzle book and hung out at my mom's grave. It was such a nice day! Right as I was leaving Matt and Sam and their family showed up. They brought dinner to eat at the grave. They brought my mom's peanut butter cups in bar form. Why have I never thought of making them that way? Tons easier. It was delicious too.

My family played rummy with me. I grew up playing that and canasta with my mom. Soon it was time for Jorja to head out. The outgoing sbos picked her up at 10:30. She is so excited. I hope she has the best time!

I knew the AP scores were getting released today. The problem is, Utah isn't scheduled to get their scores until Monday. I guess they rotate who gets the scores first. I remember when we were on our trip to Georgia I logged in on Utah's date, only to find out that because we were in Georgia we had to wait until Georgia's date. I had my dad log in for me on that one. Anyway, there is a website called earlyscores.com. You log into that site just as you would the collegeboard site. They have it run through servers based in California. Or something like that. Anyway, it worked like a charm and we were able to get Jorja's score. We were so excited to find out she passed!!!!! She got a three, but she did not think she would get that high. I'm so happy. This changes a lot for her. If she did not pass she would need to take AP Chinese this coming year. Her class this year was officially called Chinese DLI5. Because she passed she will be able to take all three bridge classes. There are three college level classes taught on a rotating basis. Kind of like seminary. The classes don't build on each other. The class Jorja will take next year is titled Chinese Pop Culture. They will study the role that current media and entertainment play in the Chinese speaking world. I hope she likes it, but I'm soooooo glad she passed! We will have to tweak her schedule. They had all the 9th grade Chinese kids sign up for AP Chinese until the scores were released. Right now seminary is scheduled where they thought this class would be. Hopefully it will be easy to switch.

Maysen and Jorja spent the day together. I love that! They went exercising at the gym and then went to the mall. Jorja helped Maysen pick out new makeup and they got Maysen a new red dress. I dropped Jorja off at work and then stopped at Matt and Sam's house to pick up the cabin sheets. Matt was sitting in the trunk of his car when I arrived. He got out too quickly for me.

Mike took Maysen and Preston to the cabin this weekend. The other kids weren't able to go. I picked Jorja up from work. She came out with a frozen strawberry lemonade. That was delicious! She said it is a secret menu item. Really, Chick-Fil-A had it last year and they will make it for you if you ask. Jorja and Stockton (mostly Jorja) played with ducks until it was time for bed.

AP Chinese

I took Jorja and Madison to the temple this morning. We got stuck behind a big group, but still made it out with plenty of time.

Today was Jorja's AP Chinese test. She had to be in the room at 11:30. I picked her up from school around 3:30. She was exhausted. She said the test was okay, the speaking was the hardest. She couldn't hear the questions very well because of all the other kids in the room speaking. She can see herself passing with a 3, she can also see herself not passing. She said that she doesn't want to pass if she is not ready because she is worried the college level classes would be too hard. I guess we'll find out in June how she did. I wish we could see more indepth scores. What areas did she excel on? Where did she struggle? Maybe there is a way and I just don't realize it.

Jorja and I went to the store afterwords. She wanted a treat for finishing the test. I let her get a chocolate cake. She asked if she passed if she would be able to get a dog. I laughed. I told her Stockton passed 8 AP tests in order for you not to get a dog. Stockton and I are on the same team when it comes to dogs.

Stockton's AP results came in today. He passed physics! Stockton was so excited he couldn't believe it! He got a 3 on the test. Stockton had previously been hoping for a 2 because he thought a 1 would be super embarrassing. He also got a 3 on AP US History, that won confused him. He thought the test was easy and had been scoring a 5 on the practice tests and super high on the essays leading up to the test. Josh also got a 3. Stockton didn't care though because he passed physics! Stockton also scored a 4 on AP Language and 5's on AP Psychology and AP Statistics. He really wanted a 5 on AP Stats, so he was happy with that. The rest of the day Stockton was walking on air. We now know he will be able to graduate from high school with his college associate degree. He still has classes to take, but it doesn't depend on one test anymore. He is also excited because we thought he would need to take either a physics or a chemistry night class during fall semester. With passing the AP Physics test he now doesn't need to. It is also great that he was able to get something out of taking that horrible class that made for a miserable year.

Mike's dad turned 78 today. We didn't get to see him, but Mike was able to talk to him. Mike and I spent most of the day cleaning our bedroom. We had a lot of things to go through and it was so nice to finally have time to do it. Jorja went to Natalie's house and watched Catching Fire with Natalie and Isaac. I worked on my primary lesson. Nothing too exciting.

Stockton's AP Career is Over

Yes! Yes! Yes! Stockton had his last AP test today. AP stats. He is finished! FOREVER! He isn't taking any AP tests next year. This has been a long, hard two weeks for him. I'm glad he is now passed the finish line! Stockton didn't finish until an hour after school was out. He said that when they met to take the test, the other test hadn't finished. I think World History was taking their test this morning. They sent the kids away for about a half hour and told them to come back. Stockton peaked into his theater class, which is where he would have been without the test. The teacher was taking roll. She couldn't see him, but the rest of the class could. When she called Stockton's name answered from behind her. That startled her a bit. Stockton said this test was really easy. Even easier than psychology. How awesome to end on a high note! I took him to get an Arctic Circle milkshake to celebrate. They had awesome Dunford Donut milkshakes awhile ago, but they don't have them anymore. Boo.

Maysen went to a reading conference today. LDS Storymakers. It was up in Provo. Thursday was extra classes. She signed up for magic systems and plot chat. She found the magic systems helpful, but was a little disappointed with plot chat. I dropped Jorja off for her softball game and then went to pick up Maysen from her conference. I was disappointed I missed Jorja's game. Mike said Jorja almost made a diving catch. She was playing catcher when a high foul ball was hit. She ripped off her helmet and dove for the ball. Flat out on her belly. It hit the tip of her mit. DRAT! Mike said it was awesome and everyone cheered for her. On both teams. The other coach then turned to his catcher and said, "Did you see that? That is what I want you to do!" I really wish we would have discovered her love of softball earlier.

I brought up a copy of Maysen's report card when I went to pick her up. She wanted to get Krispy Kreme's for her As. There is a Krispy Kreme in Provo. Well . . . there was. It is being remodeled and is closed. We have no idea where another one is. We looked Krispy Kreme up in the GPS, but it turned out to only be a Maverick gas station. Maysen got one of those vending machine milkshakes instead. We stopped and got Little Caesars on the way home. Stockton asked for that.

Before bed we were all sitting in the computer room and Stockton was talking about the AP Calculus test and how there was a weird question about figuring out the temperature of a potato. Because that is a lot easier than using a thermometer. Anyways, Stockton started showing us AP testing memes. We were laughing so hard. One of my favorites said, "A list of things that went better than the APPhysicsC exam: JFK's 1963 trip to Houston, The Black Plague, The Third Reich, The Berlin Wall." Another said, "For those of you curious about how the ap physics c test went, it feels like getting mugged one autumn day on the New York subway and barely walking away with your life and then seeing your attacker twenty years later in the window of a Starbucks on a date with your mom." I took pictures of a few others. So glad this week is over!

There was an essay question on artifice on Stockton's AP Language exam. I thought this google search was super funny.

Have I mentioned I'm glad that AP testing is over? Next year we will only have one AP test in our house. Jorja with AP Chinese. I'm glad she decided not to take AP Human Geography. Chinese will be enough to deal with!

AP Language

Stockton took the AP Language test today. He texted me when he finished. He said it didn't go as well as he hoped, but still good. Multiple choice was hard for everyone but he felt good on the essays. Wow. He was always confident on the multiple choice during he practices. Still, he thinks he passed. Just not completely confident he pulled a five. Only need a three on this one. Three and five are exactly the same. I told Stockton the two tests he really needs to pass are the English language and the US History because they both give him six credits. The others only give him three, so they will be easier to make up if he needs to. Obviously every college does the AP credits differently, but we are only concerned with Salt Lake Community College because that is the college he can earn his associates with.

Maysen stayed up with Stockton quizzing him on Statistics. Last AP test tomorrow! Yay! Yay! Yay!

Physics Train

Stockton had his Physics with Calculus AP test today. I started a fast after dinner yesterday and ended it around 6:30 tonight. Stockton had an afternoon test and I was praying for him like crazy while he was taking it. Stockton has worked so hard, but he has really struggled with this class. I know without a shadow of a doubt that he would have understood the concepts, passed this test and still have his 4.0 if he had Mr. Leininger. He was such an amazing teacher. He is also the teacher we thought we were signing up under. Stockton's physics teacher has been awful. He is a first year teacher. He is really smart and understands physics, he just doesn't do a great job teaching. At all. I can't believe he came in here and ruined everyone's gpas. It was like he was holding their gpas hostage. I'll give you your 4.0 back if you get a 5 on the test. Except I won't help you get there. I'll only give you super hard questions that are ridiculous and other physics teachers won't be able to figure them out and make you feel totally inadequate. I won't teach you building blocks so you can understand what you need to do. ---Anyway, although we would love for Stockton to get a 5 on the test so he can get his 4.0 back, we are really hoping that he passes. Stockton can fail one of his AP tests and still graduate with his associates, it just would be easier and nicer if he passed them all. While Stockton was taking his physics test I was working on this puzzle while praying for a miracle. We know if he did get a 5 on this test it would be a miracle. Of course if this is a lesson that would help Stockton, like teaching him he doesn't need to be perfect, I understand. But, if it doesn't matter at all in the grand scheme of things, could he just have this miracle?

One annoying thing about this test is they made it harder a couple of years ago. The problem is, they didn't make the test any longer. Stockton is a slow test taker. These kids have only a little bit more than a minute to solve the multiple choice problems. They aren't given the formula they need to use, so if they pick the wrong formula the first time, it really hurts. The statistics test Stockton will take later in the week is tons easier and the test is 45 minutes longer. Stockton finished his test and was able to stop by his history class to pick up the project that was handed out while he was taking the test and he still made the bus. That means this test was even shorter than psychology last week. So weird! Stockton said the test was awful. It was hard for everyone. Man, am I glad this test is over for him. Hopefully he will sleep well tonight!

Spaghetti

Mike made home made spaghetti for Sunday dinner. He had the spaghetti strung like this during church. He makes me laugh.

I finished my book review of Mind Games yesterday and sent it in. I was talking to Sam about it today. I told her I really liked the book and there were surprisingly few mistakes. Usually the books I review at this stage have a ton of spelling/grammar mistakes. Sam said that she was one of their cleanest authors. (Cleanest meaning fewest mistakes.) I laughed and said, "Do you know what I put on the author question? A question mark! I have no idea who the author is." Sam told me it is Stephanie Black. No wonder I liked the book. Maysen had some interaction with Stephanie Black during her internship with Sam a few summers ago. She was impressed with her. I read the books Maysen recommended to me and enjoyed them as well. I'm glad I liked this one too!

Stockton and Jorja hopped the fence to get a treat from the Bradley's today. Seth has been sending out Book of Mormon challenge questions to all the youth. The first girl and boy that answer correctly get a treat. The Bradley's always make yummy desserts. Stockton or Jorja get a treat almost every week. This time Seth said, "Anyone who has read (a certain chapter in the Book of Mormon that I can't remember right now) can come to my front porch and get a treat. Stockton and Jorja hopped the fence. That is how the Bradley girls used to come to my house for Young Womens. Anyways, they knocked on the back door and no one answered. They went inside and found them outside their front door. Stockton tapped Seth's shoulder from behind to spook him.

Stockton is going to have a super stressful week. Three AP tests, the scariest one being physics with calculus. Mike gave him a father's blessing before he went to bed. That kid works so hard. It will be nice when this week is over for him. Stockton bore his testimony in church today. He talked about how he was blessed 17 years ago today. He had asked Mike what he said in the blessing. Mike told him. Stockton talked about how he could see a lot of things he was blessed with had happened. Zach and Sunni blessed their baby Mona today. Stockton said he was touched by their blessing and challenged them to remember what was said to her and watch it come to pass. It was really sweet.

Stockton had his AP US History test today. He texted me when he was finished and said he felt it was pretty easy. Yay! Two tests down, three to go.

The kids were teasing Mike that they have never eaten a pizza that was delivered. Mike fixed that. We then played games. The two we played earlier, except this time with Maysen. First we played Wits & Wagers. Hailey was over and played with us. Jorja and Hailey wanted to do their own thing during Zero though.

Psychology

And so it begins . . . Stockton had his AP psychology test today. The first AP test of five. Stockton said this test was really easy. I'm glad he was able to start this crazy two weeks with an easy one! Mike took the week off. This is going to be great! Yesterday Mike and Stockton moved the old couch upstairs, today I helped Mike move this one downstairs. We aren't sure where we are going to put it yet. We spent most of the day today cleaning out the two game closets. Mike is determined to take back the house!

I was able to alter Jorja's schedule today. I needed to move things around. Hopefully she's happy. She couldn't get everything she wanted, because of when the classes were scheduled. She ended up not being able to take ballroom. She is taking foods instead. She will have Chinese, Honors math, Honors English, biology, seminary, geography, foods, digital photo, woodworking, psychology and theater. We ended up dropping AP geography and signed her up for a half year geography class. She has AP Chinese this year and she wanted to ease more into high school. We have no idea what to expect with the Chinese. We did find out that the Chinese teacher at the other high school is going to be at Alta on A days and Corner Canyon on B days. Mrs. Chung says she is a great teacher. Relieved about that!

Stockton didn't have diving today because of the travel meet last weekend. It was nice for him to just be able to relax after his first AP test. We played two new games for family home evening. They were Hodson games and we loved them. One was called Zero, it is the opposite of Family Feud. You want to guess what people would answer, but you want the lowest possible answer. Preston won that game. The other game was Wits & Wagers. It was fun as well. It is a betting game and Jorja was surprisingly good at it. I can't wait until Maysen comes home and we can play these games with the entire family!

I got another book to review from Covenant. I haven't had one in awhile. It is a RUSH job, so I need to have it finished by Monday. Mike is taking the week off, so I feel bad that I will need to spend some time reading. Although, I'm excited to use the money I'll make off of this review to buy him a birthday present. Rush reviews get a little extra money. Yay!

Last AP Tests

Maysen and Stockton had their last AP test today.  Stockton's last AP test this year and Maysen's last AP test EVER!!!  Maysen's was AP Comparative Government and Politics.  Stockton's was AP World History.  Maysen thought this test was easier than the US Government test she took a few days ago.  Stockton said the test was easier then the practice tests he took.  They are both thrilled to have them over with! Maysen and I went out to Leatherby's after I picked her up from physics.  Stockton and his friends went to the mall until it was time for their English class.  It will be really nice not having these giant end of the year tests hanging over their heads anymore!

I took Stockton to diving.  Afterwords the diving team and their parents went to Brick Oven.  The diving team paid for it as a thank you for Regionals.  It was really nice.  Stockton sat at a table with his friends. He ordered a 12 inch pizza and breadsticks.  It was bigger than he expected.  He ate the entire pizza and one (gigantic) bread stick.  Then he went around the table giving everyone high fives.  Stockton drove down to diving, I told him I wanted to drive home.  I thought he would be feeling so sick I didn't want him to drive.

While I was at diving with Stockton Mike was busy holding down the fort.  Jorja had to stay after school for the WEB team she was chosen for.  She is pretty excited about that.  A group of students were chosen to help 6th graders next year.  Today I think they played games, voted on shirts and got to know the other WEB leaders.  Mike took Jorja to her softball practice.  No one was there.  Jorja usually is the first person to show up, so they waited and waited.  Mike kept texting me asking if I got the time right.  I had Maysen look up the email.  Yep, Jorja was right where she was supposed to be.  Another girl from the team was dropped off by her mom.  After the mom drove away she saw that she was texted that the place for practice had changed.  They were meeting at the coaches house.  I did not get that text.  Later Mike found out that they had my wrong number.  Jorja got there in time to do the slip and slide slide practice.

Preston was asked to give the Scout Law at Roundtable.  He had to have it memorized, so we have been practicing it for the last week.  He also was asked to bring his belt loop holder he made and to talk about how he made it and what he thought about it.  Ashley picked him up since Mike and I couldn't get him there.  Mike hurried over there when Jorja was done.  He was able to hear Preston do both of his assignments.  He said Preston did a great job.  Mike brought Preston and three of the other friends home.  He still had Jorja with him, who was wet from the slip and slide.  Wow.  What a day!

AP Calc

Stockton took the AP BC Calculus test today.  I was a nervous wreck.  I was so worried for him.  This class has been HARD!  I knew it would be hard, but it is still gut wrenching to go through - and I'm just the mom! Luckily he has still managed to pull As, but I still hope he passes this test.  Stockton texted me around lunchtime.  "The first multiple choice was hard, but the second was really easy, I answered every question with time to spare.  The free-response questions were all or nothing, but I feel good overall."  It is nice to have this test done.  He won't find out for several months if he has passed or not.  Stockton stayed at school so he could go to his English class.  He missed that class twice last week, he did not want to miss it again.  Especially since they were taking a test.  He also had diving today.  He is going to sleep well tonight!

Maysen's Spoiled

I dropped off Maysen at seminary this morning.  She wasn't going to vet in the morning because she has the AP English Literature test today.  She felt she did really well on it.  Yay!  Nice to have one over with.  I took Mike to work this morning because I was going to need a car to pick up Jorja.  She had to stay after school to take a math test.  I watched Anne.  Matt forgot to leave her carseat, so my dad brought Maysen home from school.  Anne and I played with the Littlest Pet Shop, or 'Pet City' as Marie calls it.  When I didn't know what something was Anne would say, "Maysen will know".  As soon as Maysen got home Anne brought her downstairs so she could have all her questions answered.  Sam came and picked up Anne.  I was talking to her a bit when I noticed Jorja texted me and was waiting. I jumped in the car and brought her home.  Jorja wanted to go watch her old softball team play.  She was one of the oldest, so most of them are still playing together in the younger league.  I got Jorja a Bahama Bucks and then dropped her off at a new ballpark in Draper.  That place was NICE!  I drove in horrible traffic to pick up Mike then straight back for Jorja.  Sheesh!  We got back just in time for me to go to my scout meeting.  Our ward has been asked to do the flag ceremony etc. for Roundtable next week.  Preston was asked to give the scout law.  They want it memorized.  Preston wants to stick 'handsome' in the middle of the law.  They also want Preston to bring his belt loop holder he made and talk about how he made it and why he likes it.  This should be interesting.

Maysen had a very good day.  She feels great about her AP test, she got several hours in at the pet place and she received an email that she has a spot in a cooking dorm.  This is not just a normal cooking dorm, it is crazy!  She will have one roommate.  They will each have their own bedroom and their own bathroom.  Here is her floor plan.

Maysen thought she would be in the traditional non-cooking dorms. That is what she had a spot in.  She was on a waiting list for two other places.  They told her the waiting list was really long, so she shouldn't plan on it.  Then, surprise!  This is the one they said opened up.  She had to reply within 24 hours or they would move on to the next person on the list.  She is excited.  I hope she likes her roommate.  I think she will have an amazing experience.  Pretty sure she will like it more than high school.

Only Ones

I spent a lot of time today quizzing Maysen for her AP US History test. She is pretty nervous about this one.  She wishes her AP English and History test dates were switched.  She would love more time studying for this one!  Especially since she was focusing on her AP psychology test on Monday. Anyway, I had fun studying with her.  I love learning about history, and Maysen had all kinds of stories that she had learned to tell me.

While Maysen and I were studying, the other kids were watching Anne. Matt and Sam had gone to a fireside.  Sam said they were sure glad they went because they were the ONLY people who showed up!  Wow. That's crazy!
