Koora Monteverde

We got everything packed up early this morning and headed to breakfast. Jorja ate a quick breakfast and fund a spot with Wi-Fi. Our treehouse doesn't have Wi-Fi, but around the lodge it does. She had a pre-MTC zoom meeting with someone helping her with Cantonese. We had found a perfect spot for her zoom meeting, but a field trip with high school kids were here and set up in that exact spot. Mike and I hung around the lodge while she did it. I started feeling sick. Not long later Mike started feeling sick too. We were still able to do everything we had planned, but just didn't feel 100%.

The windows open from both corners and it is pretty amazing.
Jorja found a frog on the way to breakfast.

The is the flower that only blooms at night. Caught it before it closed up all the way.
Lots of alligators in that swamp over there.

Once Jorja's class was over we hurried back to the treehouse and started dragging our luggage to the reception area. It was kind of awkward and a bit heavy, but we managed most of the way. When we were almost there a guy with a 4 wheeler came and grabbed our luggage and we continued on. We were hoping it would end up on the boat! We met our driver Fernando and walked to the boat ramp. About five minutes later the guy came with lots of luggage. Maybe we were supposed to wait for him by the treehouse? Anyway, we made it! We were taken across the small ferry and saw our French friends waiting there. (They did both hikes with us yesterday.) They had rented a car and it had a flat so they were figuring that out. We were so thankful we didn't need to deal with that! We drove almost an hour on really bumpy roads. And then for a long time later until we stopped somewhere you could see iguanas. Across the street was a grocery store. We hurried over there and our driver helped us buy two brick things so we could charge our phones. Glad we have that!

We then went to Fortuna and stopped at some natural hot springs. The place was called EcoTermales Fortuna. I really wasn't looking forward to this. The guides said it had sulfur and healing minerals. I thought it would be like that surfer place we went to in Japan and I couldn't imagine swimming there! This place was great. We started off with a fancy lunch. A little too big for me. We were almost ready to leave when a giant rainstorm came. We stayed an extra 20 minutes in the restaurant waiting for it to die down. The restaurant was beautiful. Mike said it reminded him of something in Jurassic Park where dinosaurs would come up and say hi. The happy Jurassic Park part, before the dinosaurs went crazy.

Rain in Costa Rica
When the rain died down we made our way to the hot springs. We were given a towel and lockers. The springs were so pretty! And warm! It was a lot of fun. I went in everyone of the springs. They even had cold ones. I did not stay in those for long. My favorite one was the waterfall at the top. You could sit behind the waterfall and that was kind of fun. That one was the hottest and it felt really good on my stomach. Jorja didn't like how hot that one was though. We had about an hour in there before we had to go. I ran back to my locker first so I could get some pictures.

There was a little bench behind the waterfall. I loved that!

Fernando picked us up and took us to Arenal Lake where a boat was waiting for us. We said goodbye to him and took a 45 minute boat ride across the late. Our next driver was waiting for us when we arrived. Just a guy in a van on the edge of a beach. I'm so glad Sonia figured all of this out for us!

We drove a long time bumpy roads. A really long time. Our driver brought us to a night frog pond tour. We saw lots of frogs and that was really fun. They had Wi-Fi there and we saw Stockton's 'BeReal' post where he had a picture of him with Alyssa and her parents and said 'permission granted.' Looks like he is serious. I will be excited to read his blog post tomorrow.

We were then taken to our hotel in Monteverde and holy cow! It is called Koora Monteverde and this place is nice! Kenneth brought us to our room which is a bungalow. We walked in and I saw one king size bed. I immediately looked around for another bed, a pullout maybe? Although we probably could all have fit on the king. Nope. Jorja had her own king size bed downstairs! With her own bathroom and exit. We had our own bathroom and a small kitchen. Wow! Didn't expect that! We were told to leave the balcony doors shut when we were gone or monkeys would come in and cause havoc. Hahahahaha

Kenneth had us text him what we wanted for dinner so they could start making it before we arrived. I had a peach palm cream soup and it was so good! Jorja and I ordered dessert. Mike left us after dinner because he still wasn't feeling great and wanted to take a shower. We came back and went to bed. It was around 10:00 when I finally was able to get to bed. Glad we get to stay here two days! Excited to see what it looks like when it is light outside!
